Greetings,

well, as the title says i need an BIOS EEPROM which is compatible to my 3600+
Brisbane. The question is now how to get in contact with DFI. I guess some of u guys have already gone through this so some of you could give me an advice of how to handle it most quickly :)

That would be very nice. thx in advance

Dennis

Call the DFI California offices
1-510-274-8000 ext. 117

Its hit or miss actually getting someone on the phone. Sometimes they pick up immediately, other times they never pick up. Call around 2-4 PST for your best bet at getting someone. The guy I talked to told me to send him an e-mail with my shipping address and mobo model and that he'd send me a BIOS chip right away... no response from him on the e-mail front yet but I'm hoping it'll be soon. I had a bad flash and now my mobo doesn't boot properly (the computer turns on, everything starts booting, but nothing displays on the screen).

Gah... is there any way I could've hurt the graphics card with a bad flash? I didn't think that would be possible, but I want to rule out all possibilities...

Yo, the OP lives in Germany, so a cali phone # may be a bit of a stretch.

check DFI Europe for your needs.

also, if you know anyone with a 90nm AM2, you can boot with that, flash the bios that has the microcode for the 65nm slugs, shut down, yank, install, up and running.

maybe even the shop that sold you the CPU or MB might flash it with the proper bios using a shop CPU....

Well, mine boots but it resets during the Windows install at a certain point - I'm assuming its trying to install drivers for something CPU relatd and its going bonkers. So I flashed and now it doesn't display. I hopefully will be able to report some good news once DFI contacts me back.

Well, bad for him

Anyway, i have written my request down on global.dfi-club also but no answer yet. But maybe u guys can help me a little bit out with your knowledge regarding this problem.

Am i right that if this BIOS problem occurs there is just no system response?
I just want to asure that i didn`t make another mistake. So how about you people who have run through all this already?
I installed my components and with the brisbane there is just no response not even a single sound from the internal speaker.

Did u hear anything the first time u tried to get the whole thing started without the appropriate bios or did you encounter the same symptoms as i did?

Latest official BIOS supports 65nm CPU's
http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bios_download_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=4755&STATUS_FLAG=A&SITE=US

If you need the actual CHIP then I dunno.

to flash this board if it ships without the proper 65nm bios one must get their hands on a 90nm AM2 CPU (which the board WILL recognise and boot to), flash, pull the 90nm, install the 65nm, then move on.....

or...................

get a bios chip with the proper bios flashed already and swap out on the board....

i just went through this on an AsRock Dual 939 SATAII, fortunately, I had a 90nm X2 3800+ to stick in the board, flashed with the L2.31C beta that had the 65nm micro code, then...................

popped in the AM2 65nm X2 3600+, bingo, postage and runnings................

so, i would be checking with local shops to see if you can get a 'friendly' to allow you to 'borrow' a 90nm slug or, at the very least, allow you to bring the board in for flashing, otherwise you will be waiting a bit for the part....
