Well I wanted to play some cs:s with a friend of mine, so I clicked on the Steam icon. It gave me an error that said that there was a problem connecting to the Steam network. Well the internet was fine and everything else was connected fine. The off line option gave me the same error and the link to the help page would not work. I did a restart and nothing, the problem was still there. I uninstall Steam and reinstall it....
Now it give me an error that Steam.exe can't load Steam.dll. WTF
There was no help I could find on the web. :( All the things they say to do, didn't work.

Should a restore point a week ago fix the problem (problem started a day ago)?
Thanks for the reply. :)

As expected the restore point did not work. At least BF2 still works. :)

did you run any spyware programs that might have whacked a steam file you needed thinking it was spyware?

I only have Kaspersky and Nod32. I did not do a scan or update. I will still check into that.
Edit: I just don't know why a reinstall will not fix the problem. Is there something I don't know about this program. (only used for the past week or two)

When ever I reinstall Steam it gives me the error. I can't even update it. :( Is there an updater that I can download?

If it was told to del or block ext. a file then it is scripted to do so every time it see the same file if the spyware prog is running or not.

Oh man I can't even find where to allow all Steam actions in my anti virus and spy ware stuff. :(
Time for some for looking.

Not yet. :(
I installed CS:S on my brothers laptop, and now I'm playing on that. (It installed fine)
I am going to build a new system pretty soon, so I will just hold out until then. Reformatting or messing around anymore will just be a waste of time for me.
Thank you for all the help you have given me.

You are so welcome. You should get STALKER and come play on cTx server. Great bunch of guys and a lot of fun. Also check out ctx web site and get on vent. VOIP and a lot of fun.
If you need any more help just ask I will keep monitoring this thread. :toast:

I love the gaming community that is set up here. One of the best I have ever seen.
I need to some day join one of the cTx servers.
LOL The PC I'm on right now can't handle STALKER on low settings. Don't worry soon I will be able to enjoy more games. :)

I will reuse my old thread. :)
I switched to Vista about a couple of weeks ago. (Vista 32bit then 64bit)
I over clocked my PC to a stable setting, but when ever I exit Counter Strike Source an error message would pop up saying that HL2.exe has had an error and will close.
Is this a problem with Vista/Steam or something else?

Have you tried deleting ClientRegistry.blob (http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/wiki/ClientRegistry.blob)?
