Hey,
Just wondering if there is anyone that has done phase on SLI, the challenge would be making the cooler low profile enough to fit both cards in.
Thanks
it have been a couple of SLI phase coolers here on XS. use the search tool and you will find it.

The cooler express hydra is three heads, not two.
SLI phase change is possible... but why would you want to use it? If you're benching then I could understand but there isn't really any point for 24/7 use.

eh why do you say that?
I'm always looking to improve gaming performance, I already have phase on my cpu but I'm not really impressed with the results of watercooling 8800GTX SLI which is not much more than on air.
Try playing oblivion with mods on a 30" panel and you will see what I mean.

I want to get some more evaps on hand from Chilly1 to cut em for SLI. Shouldn't be so hard, I'll post up a thread on a SLI cooler if I do.

Watercooling 8800 GTx's is pointless purely for performance! You need to volt mod as a minimum, even then you are better off with water cooling over phase!

I just don't think it's a good idea for 24/7 use for several reasons;
- Graphics cards are a PITA to insulate so you may run into condensation issues if it's not done with lots of care
- Your electricity bill would probably rocket just for the sake of a few more FPS
- Having phase change on your CPU and both graphics cards in SLI would also make your rig louder which would probably get annoying
- Even if you have phase change on both cards in SLI, it isn't going to gain all that much. Like someone said you would probably then need to volt mod the cards if you wanted to gain a better overclock on them
There are more reasons but i'm kinda busy revising at the moment so I can't think about phase properly at the same time.
What are your current system specs?

x6800, evga 680i, 4GB ddr2 8500, Asus 8800GTX SLI...did I miss something? :p:
I was intending to do the volt mod for this anyway, of course you need to do that in order to get the full benefit, however small.
Problem is I have zero soldering skillz, and don't understand the volt mod guides too well.
Like I was saying before I would gladly take a professional modder up on his offer, or otherwise if I do the mod myself I would probably need a more in depth guide.

Power bills are not an issue when you own dual 8800's surely.
what does the electricity cost in your countrys when you all are talking about the powerbills?
in sweden we pay ~0,1$/kW incl taxes which I wouldn't see as an issue.

Not a good idea to run these on Phase unless your looking at bench them and then you are greatly running the risk of breaking them as they are very sensitive, for a 24/7 system i would stick with water cooling but as said if its benching your looking at then by all means go the phase route.

Mine 2 SLI/CF units :
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=134852 - using 2 * Danfoss NL11F
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=142426 - one rotary compressor, it can be used on CPU+GPU or SLI/CF :D

you could run a 1Ton chiller out side then run the water loop into the house.
Your basically making an industrial process chiller.
made a sli unit too previous year :)

Heat is generally a good indication of power getting used quite a bit.
So if it's enough to actually act as a heater, then you may have some issues if you care about the bills.

Get a QX6700 and OC it to 4GHz + for 24/7 use, see if that makes a difference with the games.
I think using chilled water on the 8800GTX's would be a safer option. Not quite as cold but still far better than any standard air cooled W/C loop.
Voltmoding cards is fairly simple... experience helps though :)! Just buy a very small soldering iron and some of that really thin wire (I forget what it's called, i'm tired). If you do it yourself just be careful to not get solder anywhere on the card where it isn't supposed to be.

Actually I had both a x6800 and QX6700, I sold the QX6700 instead.
Basically because it won't overclock as well, and no games support the extra cores (and when they finally do, they will have better ones out probably)
I might sound more like a bencher than a gamer lol, but I can't easily say "oh well, it's only a bit less"
Waterchillers are good too, but they aren't really that easy to make, at least far beyond my capabilities of pulling apart and air conditioner and such.

Try asking round different stores, see if they have any B1 stepping QX6700's. IIRC those are the best for overclocking with.
Where are you from by the way?

my recomendation is since you already have the wb's and such, to get a chiller... pm dremeister over at www.extremeoverclocking.com or whoever makes hcillers here...
