3R System provided me with another one of their products, this time a watercooling system, Poseidon WCL-02 Gold.
Ok, lets be honest, ready built watercooling systems are rubbish, they only just about match a high end heatsink.
Anyhow, i continued with the testing, the only computer i have sitting around that has watercooling is my old socket 478 3.0E pressy!
The water block has be revised, they have changed to a zalman OEM water block which is gold coated.
I will use max overclock as a means to test this water cooling system.
Test System
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
Intel Prescott 3.0Ghz
Corsair XMS 256MB X4
Western Digital 80GB
Result
Custom built watercooler- Max CPU speed 4.4Ghz
Zalman CNPS9700 Aero Flower- Max CPU speed 4.1Ghz
Poseidon WCL-02 Gold- Max CPU speed 3.9Ghz
Conclusion
With the Poseidon WCL-02 Gold performing just under the Zalman, one must ask is it worth almost 3 times the price of the Zalman?
The answer? It depends, if you are new to watercooling then the Poseidon is a good place to start. You don't need anything more than a screwdriver, long nosed pliers, and some common sense.
How about noise? nothing to brag about, noise levels are about the same as the Zalman.
The good thing is that if any part of the watercooling system leaks and damages any part of your computer 3R system will provide some sort of compensation, most likely paying the consumer the current value of that piece of hardware.
This watercooler defiantly does not belong in XtremeSystems, but other people will find this piece of kit usefull.
