View Full Version : Core Temp not playing well with P35 chipset/P5K Dlx?

Core temp .95 just seems to give me no end of headaches with P5K Dlx and quad core. I can run Prime95 small fft and Prime95 blend and orthos blend for days, literally, without crash. Then I turn on core temp and wham! Crashed hard. Over and over again. I was thinking my comp isn't stable but now I think it is core temp. Anyone else having these problems? I also notice I am MORE stable (much much more) when running stress tests w/o core temp running.

try using everest not only does it read per core temps but it reads gpu temps as well.

Well, the thing that is really getting me right now is being convinced that it is a problem with coretemp and not my OC or my board.

Yeah, if you look at the coretemp forums, you'll see that the dev has no idea why the app reboots different machines. My advice is use RMClock (http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml) which accurately reports temps for quad core chips and has some pretty sweet logging features.

i dont even use coretemp anymore, it just not accurate and sometimes it reports unreasonable temperature such as my new E2140 with 1.35v on watercooling. It show that idle temperature is 35-40s and load temperature is 65-70s. On the other hand, i use RMClock, and it report my idle temp is 25-30s, and load temp is 40-45.

try to use everst and see if he reprots temp similar to coretemp's or rmclock

well, everst report temp as same as coretemp and the differences is around 15 degree compare to RMclock.

then i would believe both fo them and not rmclock
have u check if ur ihs is concave or convex ?? have u tried remounting the block on the cpu

the IHS is complete Flat without lapping and i tired to remount it many times. If someone else E2140 coretemp and RMClock temperature are the same, then i will have to believe RMclock.

what about TAT ?

TAT sadly doesn't work on all mobo's, my Striker just gives an application error (sounds logic as it was designed for Intel chipset mobo's), my P5K is on the way will have it wednesday :)

Thanks for the info. Yeah, coretemp is like a reboot button for me with P5K Dlx and Quad.
