We need someone to make a vista tweaks and patches thread.
here (http://www.tweakhound.com/vista/tweakguide/index.htm) is a great tweak page. I hope that it helps people running vista.

Seems a good guide (didnt read all yet).
I disagree on moving the pagefile from the sytem drive, though. It is basically required by vista (unlike xp and 2003). It is better to SPLIT the pagefile onto different drives (not partitions). Hmm after reading that point, he does indeed express correct suggestions.

usual stuff, disable all the eye candy to save a little memory. Pointless with current hardware and 2gb or more of ram.
"Turn Off System Restore"
stupid, very stupid. System restore saved many asses...
the services list is useful and the recommended lists are probably sound. Not disabling anything memory usage goes at about 1GB with standard internet/mailing/background processes usage. I dont agree on disabling defender, which is quite good (was based on an antispyware program that MS bought last year)
lastly the network setup is interesting.

I agree there are several things he has in there that you should not disable. I liked the networking stuff. lots of it sounded very helpfull. You will see several times he said don't do it unless your sure you don't want it. System restore if I remember right was one of them.
I would like to see people post what they have found or would like to find that needs to be noted. A good example would be the memory usage and how to change it some. Also stuff like ctrl+alt+del to get to the task manager and disable the services. Lets make it readable by noobs so that there will not be 15 threads saying where is task manager in vista.
