View Full Version : Did my Asetek LS just die on me ?

My Asetek LS just died.
I have been running it for around 25 hours the last 3 days.

Im Stting on the toilet, hear some noise, Hmmm

That Refrigiator is pretty loud I think, I exit the toilet and find out that it is the LS making the noize. not my refrigurater...
the same Standard LS noice but just louder.

It smells burned
Computer apparently locked up 15min ago while I was at the toilet.

I have a 230 volt fan blowing on it :(
After 10 min it is still hot, VERY HOT. But it was Running.

Maybe it had to much flowback and the oil is not cooling the compresser som how :(

Or maybe it has a Leak ?

dismount it from pc and try run it idle.. se if you can get correct tempture.. seems strange it would start leaking without premonition.

So if I get around -50 -55 On the display it should be okay you think ?

Yes propperly best to try that way.
The I know somthing is wrong = A leak if it goes below -55 :)

do you get a leak you will not reach low temps 'cause of the lack of refrigrant.

if you get low temptures, you can mount it and try again. hopefully it did just get wacko.. atleast worth a try before stripping it down and search for leaks and/or broken compressor.

It pull down to - 60 and The compressor isent hot.

Not only front fan is running becasue the computer isent turned on.
Funny :)

Maybe it crashed and the fans stopped. Lame CC :(

well I would try to push it with some load now when you see it's running.. as you get low temps the compressor seems to work ok.

if it get's wacko again.. I would strip it down to look for the problem.

Unplug it and let it sit for at least 12 hours and cool. Or you can use a big floor fan to cool it much quicker. It should start up just fine when cool. Make sure you remove both side of the unit to make sure it is getting a lot of cooling air before you attempt to run it again.

It is 22 Celcius now, must have been 25 erliger.
humidity im not sure, Would say it it not to humidt nor is it dry.

Precicly what I did.

Amazing that it is posible for it to crash... :(

Im told that Danfoss compressor turn off at 130 C, mould be nice, because I think that is must be quite a strain for the compressor :(

Another reason to have manual fan controll :)

Mounting her up later tonigth I think :)

if you have the termostatic cutoff it wouldn't been any damage on the compressor.

He how do I know if i have termostatic cutoff :p ?

Reading CCNP Semester 1 now. Will mount and give it some load when Im done with submodule 3 and the Module Testing :)

you should got a termostatic cutoff mounted on the electronic equip on compressor, under the plastic cover.

on rotarys it is fitted on the top of compressor next to the tre pins to motor.

it's bi-metall, it cut's of when the metal gets to hot.. it's used to cut the power if the motor goes to hard. but if you havn't been touching anything this should be there... I'm pretty sure the compressor is okey.

Mazda RX8, aint bad. Drive one at work my self. Just fiddle the clutch and acelorater cables so there tigther. So much better. Oh and the fact they tell you it gets more silent as you go faster is a very very very true fact past 150 you hear nothing but some women screaming for you to go slower

You say its dead in your first post ..you said you could smell Burning from the Toilet or making funny noises......

Now you say its holding at -55c to -60c unloaded :confused:
maybe it wasn't the Phase cooler burning :confused:

Most motors get hotter after there switched off as there isnt anymore fans cooling down .

Gsmaster controller fixes this problem as it runs fans for 4 min after shutdown wich helps...:yepp:

I think i will Buy the Silencer controller next week to see how it runs compared to the Gsmaster one i got ....

You think your burning smell might of been the Clear on the Motherboard ? as when i killed my last p5b delux this was verry Prominent smell...

I think you are reading the thread a BIT to fast m8 ;)

It is holding load very well now, 435x9 at 1033 strapp and 1.6 Vcore = 35 C in the front display.

Should yeld around -17 C for the CPU.
But will only know when I enter windows again.

Vcpu 1.6 - MAX on XBX2
Vfsb 1.4 - Wasat 1.25 but am bumping to se if that is why I havent been able to boot into XP past 405 but only DO memtester86 error free for more than 15 min.
Vmch 1.7 - Same reason as above.

It runs fine :)

Even acheaved a stabil OC at 435x9 now :)

1 Hour of memtesting pushed the LS down to -34 :)

-29 is my record :D

How does your Ls compare to these temps ? do you use Vapochill Control panel ?/

Must be either a Huge Vdropp you have or I have a Leak.

My temps reach +4 on CPU at the -34Display temp :(

BTW how does R507 Smell ?

it doesn't smell that much, normally not noticeable... but if you can feel the smell it would be like ether.

1.65vcore in the bios ...1.6vcore under load not to bad i thought...

My ls dies in the arse like yours as well but my Xe2 Holds nice ..strange but true..i prefer my Xe2 comp anyday over my Ls
