hi ya, brought my new system ( see sig ), and all was well, till last week.

Fitted my new gemin II cooler and fans and away I went ... firstly the temps were jumping around, So I ripped off the cooler and sure enough only point to point contact with the chip ( my IHS is as curved as robin hood's bow  ) re applied paste and this time to the HS aswell. temps great and no problems - or so I thought.

The computer kept on re starting and BOSD with an error that was the nvidia ethernet drivers. I re installed the nvidia chipset drivers ( latest). and away i went again, Thing is kenell32 seems to keep being a problem ( certain apps longer work etc) and then my monitor kept going blank ( or like it was re sizing etc ) , Then I'd have artifacts and then a re boot.

I changed over slots on the mobo and still the same problem ( and the card would not even pass the directx tests) So i got out my trusty pci graphics (440 i think ... ) card and vola .... I was away again .....

Now I find last night I'm still having problems and on boot up it said some thing about ** MP processor not sync - running in uni -processor mode **

I don't know what the problem is.

I think the heatsink might not be making good enough contact, but the only common part is the Mobo ( and remember my nvidia chipset re install ...) , so maybe I should RMA it ..? ( would be a good thing as I'd junk it and get the 680i chipset I thought i was gettting ! )

This morning all seemed to boot up fine ... and can probably even play a game on the PCIe graphics card ( the 7600 ) .. but after a while it just all goes pear shaped !! and back to blankscreens artifacts etc ...

anyone got any ideas ...???

thanks

ok took off the HSF countersunk the base plate that holds the HS in place ( screws looked like they were infearing with the chip restraint. managed to mem86 for 8:30hrs and 21 passes without fail. but this was on my pci graphics card.

I am now using the chkdsk/r to try and repair the kernel32 error , as it looks like thart can cause alot of problems ( including graphics ), think maybe a reinstall or even a format might be in order. any one got any ideas on the kernel32.dll ..??

well, things aren't improving here.

chkdsk it and it hasn't made a darn bit of difference. I keep getting Ramdon reboots, and at the start, before the bios it sometimes says:

Warning: have option rom can invoke.

I think it must be a mother board issues, so I'll probably RMA it unless any one else here has had any experience like this ...??? come on guys/girls. :)

i would try reinstall windows and maybe while i was at it format the hdd's as well. if that does not help then it's almost definitely the board thats giving you a hard time.
