hi 2 all

my system consists of Asus M2N32 WS PRO and a 4800+ brisbane core . the problem is that in correspondence to this topic http://xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=135144

i get too high temperatures!! ,at 2.7ghz undervoltaged to 1.26-1.27v (measured with DMM) during s&m FPU test i get 71-72 C (with Everest monitoring), at 2.6ghz and 1.21v i get 65 C !!!! these temperatures drive me crazy , considering the wattage of this cpu downvoltaged.. .Of course its the stock HSF . but.. suxx so terribly???
What to believe ? also the HSF feels quite warm to touch , definitely hotter than my previous opteron 939 HSF .
Is that NORMAL?? (or the 65nm process suffers from severe current leakage , like the 1st prescott , thats why these crazy temperatures..??)

i know how you feel. i see the exact same situation you're seeing. my 3600 brisbane is displaying some weird temps under sisoft. the app shows that the idle temps hover around 40+ degree C under vista. but when i go into winxp and use coretemp, the idle temps show 20 degree c. i can't find temp monitoring in everest, what version are you using? anyone know anything else about temp monitoring with brisbane? thanks.

the temp sensors on brisbanes are broke, most of them will never read right
mine reads 50c idle stock

@dng everest ultimate 4.00.1027 beta

@hstuehmeyer2000 i remember having read that about "broken" sensors in the coretemp's thread (not so sure) , but even if it reports false 72C , the base of the STOCK HSF feels hot (about 45+ for sure) , so the inner core temperature could be at least +20 C , close enough to the 72 C reported :( . The real problem is that i have not so many options for good cooler to fit the m2n32 ws ,due to upside down socket placement ,the Tuniq is the 1st option but cant find it anywhere here in Hellas, so i lean towards the Zalman 9700 ,although is by far inferior hsf :/

My 3600 brisbane is cooled by a thermalright 120 ultra in a pull air flow config. i also tried a push-pull air flow config and it doesn't improve anything. i think the 3600 we have is early generation and maybe power consumption and cooling have not been tweaked fully. as long as i'm stable with some overclocking, i'm happy. hopefully this cpu will last me till the quad cores come out. i have a zalman 9700 and a scythe infinity collecting dust, i might give them a try. is it ok to use AS5 or zalman's thermal paste on aluminum heatsink like the 120 ultra?

i have no idea why the as5 could be "NOT OK" to use with TR 120 Ultra :S , anyway id be very glad :D if you could do a mini test between the TR 120 and the zalman 9700 , in load (snm preferably) , same clock/voltage , and post here the results
