So i just finally got around to getting my rig up and running, but now i see they are already pushing ddr3 chipsets. So how long are ddr2 rigs going to last? I just got one together 6600, 4gb ddr2, 2900xt, badaxe2. Hopefully if anything they have hybrid boards that support ddr2 also. God technology moves too fast.

Your rig will still be fast for a long time, I say DDR3 will be fully mainstream within 5 months.
How loud is your 2900? I'm getting a rig just like your's and would like to know how loud the 2900 is (Not CF'd like that video)

I would give DDR3 a year before its fully mainstream, maybe a little longer. Right now not to many impressive numbers are coming out that I have seen.

i got my socket 478 rig back when s775 was coming out. it was a really bad time, because PCI-E and DDR2 were also being introduced. I would go for a DDR2 rig now, because DDR3 isn't even out yet in the US, and prices are sky high.
