I canīt install it on my Vista 64 bit system.
Also how do you get the drivers on an USB disc? I assume if you want to run AHCI or RAID you must install it prior to installing your op system.
Asus have some utility to put it on floppy but my computer just breaks them.

Vista install disk already has drivers for Matrix, you don't need the floppy. Once Vista is installed then you just install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager software from www.intel.com

ok strange that I cant install the matrix storage drivers then :(. would I have to install vista in RAID or AHCI mode to get that to work?
I tackled this same problem a few weeks back, going nuts tryig to find the Matrix Raid drivers in their raw form so i can install them from an USB-stick. Intels site only had the Vista64flpy.exe files that extract into a floppy but not the separate drivers. So after a couple hours of intensive googling i found a program called Undisker and my problems were solved.
So in all simplicity you dowload the flpy.exe file you need 32/64bit from intels site, extract it with Winrar etc. and u'll end up with a F32 or F64.IMA file depending which flpy.exe you downloaded....now this .IMA file can be extracted with the Undisker and youll end up with the plain drivers that are needed to install Matrix raid. Just copy them to a USB-stick and reload the drivers from it when installing.
hope my babling helps, lol

To put the intel matrix storage manager drivers on a usb key:
1.put the storage manager program in c:\
2. Go to run and type in "c:\iata_enu.exe -a -a -pe:\" without the quotes. If your usb drive is a different letter than e:\, say it's f:\ or something, then just change the -pe:\ to -pf:\. You can even use -pc:\ and just copy the drivers from c:\ onto the usb key or floppy yourself.
3. Once you enter that in Run and hit ok, the storage manager program will come up and you might need to hit next a couple times. When it closes, check the usb key to make sure it the drivers are there. The one you want is in the Driver64 folder. You can delete the folder called Driver if you want to-- those are the 32 bit drivers which you won't need.
4. When installing Vista, when you get to the screen asking you to select the drive/partition to install vista on, click Load Drivers. Browse to the Driver64 folder and click ok (I'm trying to remember this part soley from memory, so it might be a little different :) )
5. After installation is complete, check to make sure it worked by going into device manager, click storage controllers, double click the intel one. Select the 'Driver' tab. Click the 'Driver Details' button. If the iaStor.sys is displayed in the path, the installation of the raid driver was successful.

Forgot to mention this. When typing the command in run, change iata_enu.exe to whatever the name of the program is. The latest version as of July is iata75_enu.exe
