Hey all am just starting to jack the power up on my system and have reached a point wonderin if someone might have an idea.
I'm running: GA-k8ns rev.2 board f19bios
3400+ Athlon64 Newcastle skt.754 2.4ghz(stock)
Got's a x700pro radeon 256mb
2x1gb one's a Kingsinton other's a generic.
Vista x86
400w cool-max

Anyway was having some difficultings at first finding some frequency's and power levels to get stable. Now I've managed an overclock to a 2.89ghz. Seems stable and am going to run a full stable check once I get some air to clean my heat-sink.

None the less is stable thus far in prime95 yet if I do a restart shutdown I can't get a post.

Anyone might have some idea why this is. After fiddling around again in the bios I can get a post after sometime adjusting and runs stable again until I do a restart shutdown.

Temps: idle 41c - load 57c is the limit nothing higher
Would like to bring those temps down which is higher do to dirty heatsink.

Please give up some info and thoughts.

Oh yeah forgot to mention temps mentioned above are my mid day temps when room is quite warm. Am looking to at least look at a 12-hour stabilty check through the sleeping hours tonight.

Yeah is quite informative and will find useful on my next oc of 3200+ Venice A64 but right now my manufacturer/chip is a 130nm with a CG stepping. Plus I really didn't notice either of those links contain any multi values or fsb values. None the less I do appreciate your reply. I did prime95 the oc last night while I was sleeping but only got five hours before I stopped it as a lightning storm started outside and figured I'd wait. Was stable for the five hours but I still have the reboot shutdown issure originall mentioned. Any thoughts why it's stable but just for that single boot with whatever bios settings i get to post and boot. Is quite confusing.

Been looking around for some more answers or different options on frequencies and such and now I'm somewhat confused some more. In my searches I found a site that was selling a 754 A64 3400+ with all the same specs as mine even down to the OPN PIB i ordered mine under which is ADA3400AXBOX. When I ordered mine back when it was sold as a Newcastle this one is being sold under opteron title. Am I just confused or is some reason for all this.

Prime is okay but real works try to run computer within 3 days with no restart then if any weard error.. that was my record 3 days,i didnt push it..
Since i got 1 more computer it works 24/7 pentium1 166 class...(wery stable)

The fasted you can get is a64 for 754 is 3700+ run on 2400mhz <-- thats moust stable freq for all 754

Since im out luck with my mainboard or cpu i run on 2100 mhz with 233 fsb and ddr 233 - 33 = ddr200
