Hey, ive been trying to get this compressor off of eBay for months now, every time someone outbidded me. but this time i won! and for only $28.00 :D
I still need to buy a 115v starter kit and i need help finding the best one. what price range should a good starter kit run?
also just to make sure, is the NF11FX compatible with Alkylbenzene 150 oil and R-22?
Thanks ;)

I have seen these autions. Some of them state "NEW" in the title, but the description say that it is salvaged frieght. Was this one sold as new?How is the condition of the compressor?

Bout half I get are dead, burnt windings or the like. Or simply bounced around way to much. Still a decent price.

Your talking about the compressor, right? $28.99 for a bum compressor? No thanks. The auction have seen say new in the title though...Probably just new to them.
Is there a place to buy replacement started for these?
EDIT
I just asked the seller if they were new because I looked at a few of their auctions and, the ones I looked at, all say new.

Go to your local refrigeration store and bring in the spec-sheet for the NF11FX, it has all the part-codes you need for Danfoss replacements along with the specs so you could get 3rd party replacements. Those compressors are freight salvage I believe so it's like a crapshoot and you just hope for the best.

They are new, just freight salvage, they will be dinged up or scratched, some worse than others, they may be banged around enough to not work. I doubt any will have burnt windings since they have never been powered up.

I got one too. I haven't tried it out. I still need a starter. Will a starter from a refrigerator work?

You guys are right, they are salvaged freight.
The response I got from the seller was ;
"These are salvaged freight. They appear to have been in transit from the compressor factory to the assembly plant. We have sold over 30 of them so far with no DOA's. Thanks for asking. Mark @ Stu's Stuff"

I've now purchased 8, 3 did not work. 2 seem to have a connection from there windings to ground, and one just clanks when turned on.
I asked him about possibly a replacement, he said sold as is, you may purchase more though.

All this is explicitly mentioned in the auction, I've eyeballed them for a while ;)
is salvaged freight the same kind of thing that people in the uk would call "fallen off the back of a lorry"? :)

Somehow the shipment didn't make it from point A to point B, most likely this guy purchased an entire shipment in an auction and took all the good apples with the bad apples and is just passing em all off to the consumer. It's a gamble at best.

Still, the main questions goes unanswered... Where do you find the starter and what do they run?

Guys watch you you buy on ebay, salvaged freight could mean weeks under water from hurricane Katrina or the likes or it could mean one part of a pallet was damaged so the entire pallet was rejected leaving most perfectly OK. Buying filters/dryers is a big risk,if some removed the end cap to take a look, they broke the seal and it's probably bad. Look closely how many sight glasses show a wet indication and are for sell. When sealed they are dry and will stay that way for a very long time. Think before you give someone else your money.
As to the starter look it up on the Danfoss site,do it yourself ,then you can't get or blame someone for incorrect info.

Funny that Nol says that he has gotten bad compressors and our friend Mark says that none have been DOA...
Shady ebay sellers...

someone should send Mark a link to this thread, so he can see how word does get around. i did that with a guy who was selling bad Inficon Vortex recovery units, saying that he never opened them up when clearly it had been opened (half of the blown bearing was missing and along with the cage and no it didnt find its way through the 1/4" hole that leads to the piston) and he never sold another one on ebay again.

3n'1s Work but make sure you test em first, don't want to kill the compressors.
