From what I saw, now we have more people that are capable to build autocascade. Maybe we should start new competition, in last year`s competiton we had some nice builds, maybe at this we will see more xtreme units ?

I was thinking about gases, the most important thing. I think that R290/CO2 is the best option for everyone, we can make R1150 category too, but don`t think so that it`s needed. With R1150 results aren`t super good for this momment, so R290/CO2/R1150 can be in one category.
Compressor, condenser, evap, no restriction for that. Maybe only for compressor size.
Load test, 150W and good tuned co2 autocascade with ~ 3/4HP compressor can hold it at -60C to - 65C. Maybe we should try higher load, like 200W ?
How long that competition should be ? I was thinking about 3-4 months MAX.

what about HX's, will only to use homemade HX's or plate HX's I can use too?

Gotta make all your own heat exchangers and such. Make or modify, but no plate hx I'd say.

I think also that plate hx shouldn't be able...
I'll beat the safty gezza here to it but can we get some safety devices on these as well please? Lukes unit are Getto but are cold and scare me. I know rest here are clean builders but i think it's safe too just incase it goes kaboom in you face and we don't want that...do we?

right, plate hx isn`t good idea, only self-made HX. That`s the fun ! :yepp:

Yes, we can use at last cut-off switch or relief valve. It should be enough.

I think that we can start at 1 of June and end at the 31 of August. What do ya think ? 3 month, pretty enough.

Hmm, I think you can use improved design from last competition, why not :up:
We need Judges, I think that Gray`s, Ron`s and Chilly1`s help would be great. C`mon guys, look at this thread and post some ideas :) We will do the best competition !
I`ve got few ideas and design of ultra-cold auto-c, I wanna make it working :)

why no plate hxs? they are small, which is great for a compact system.. i may try, but i'll be using plate one only, not rly looking for a big beast..

I would think the reason they are avoiding/preventing the use of plate HX is because a lot of people can't get them, and if they can not very cheap. Also, if just a few people used plate HX they would be far more efficient and would make the competition a bit unfair.

Why no plate HX ? Because it`s a competition, and with all comerciall parts it wouldn`t be competition anymore. Not for me.
With your own HX you can test few designs of HX, on YOUR HX design depends your autocascade performance.
i think it would be nice to have a different comp this year, one more ppl could enter. Either a single stage comp, or a cascade comp for something different.
Cascade being 2 stages what you like luke, ie auto cascades both stages it you like.
