1-X condenser couplers

i seen some condenser units around some of the A/C systems i've worked on that use some kind of factory made coupler (if you can call it that) that has a line in that expands to 3, 4 even 5 lines into the condenser, is there any advantages or disadvantages compared to other multi pass condensers who have multiple loops with 1 to 1 in/out

and can these things be bought anywhere
the red circled areas are what i'm talking about in this crappy drawing
