Thanks to Kunaak to leading me to this site from GameFAQs and for me eventually signing up here...

Anyway, I was interested in this and decided to join... Well everything is running, but, I don't see my name in the stats... How long does it take for your name to appear? My last update said I've completed 2500 out of 250000 processes... Do I need to complete x amount of processes before I'm recognized?

Thanks,
theguy

And anything else that would be useful for me to know would be greatly appreciated... I'm not a computer n00b, just new to this site... As in last 10 minutes...

Yea, I'm with Team 3365 and I dunno about the 250000... I just started it up and it said 0 out of 250000 processes...

Here we go... It says:

Project 910 (Run 48, Clone 76, Gen 1)

Assembly optimizations if available.
Entering M.D.
Protein: p910_vill_str0_rf

And what's a WU?

WU = work unit

you are folding a gromac - those are good.... and you must have one work unit complete before stanford knows who you are on their site....

the 2500 out of 250000 is your percentage or with some units frames most of em have 100 frames but some will have as much as 400 frames and as others have said you will need to complete a unit before you show up on the stanford stats .... lucky you got one of the best units too to start........... oh and yes

welcome to the xtreme team :toast:

Welcome to the team theguy!!!:toast: Once that wu reaches 250000 out of 250000, it will submit it to Stanford and dl another one. After a couple hours, you'll show up on the stats.

250000 isn't even the highest frame count Work Unit. Don't be surprised to see one like this:

[10:41:39] Writing local files
[10:41:39] Completed 315000 out of 500000 steps (63)
[10:51:21] Writing local files
[10:51:21] Completed 320000 out of 500000 steps (64)

Where the number in parenthesis is the percent complete. It will not communicate with Stanford until it reaches 100%. Also, if you haven't already done so, added " -forceasm -advmethods" to the target line of your shortcut to the F@H client will dramatically improve the speed.

Welcome to the sickness! :)

And... if I close out of F@H, will it restart from where it was previously?

theguy

Yea... I just added -forceasm -advmethods to the command line and it restarted from where it previously was...

Nope... My machine runs 24/7... So until I have to move it somewhere, I'll be a full-time folder.

You'll still be broke like the rest of us, we spend all our money on computer parts;)

theguy

Yep... But then I'll actually have computer parts that I can play around with... Hehehe...

w00t... I just remembered I have two old computers laying around somewhere...

Now... When I say old, I mean like between 66 - 200 MHz... Should I reincarnate them and use them for F@H?

And if I do, how can I configure F@H to acknowledge those two computers into working for my main account?

I wouldn't really advise you to resurect them purely for folding - I fold on my dual pentium 200mmx but only because it's running 24/7 as my win2k domain server so it might as well be folding too. Generally it's not worth the cost of the electricity to run anything slower than about 400mhz unless you have a job for the machine anyway (router, server, web hosting, firewall etc).
