Hi,

Would you say buying a CPU from ebay would be wise?
How would the 3 year warranty work with intel because im not buying from a shop.

Thanks

Uhm...maybe it's just because this is XS but I have never heard of a 3 year warranty on a retail part. But if there is one I imagine its based on the part not on where you get it.

Have you ever used a processor before?

All retail CPU's from AMD or Intel come with a 3-year warranty, as long as you make sure the CPU comes in retail box (NOT OEM) then you should be fine.

Ok thanks for your reply , if something was to go wrong i guess i would have to return the CPU to Intel directly.

Because i cant return to a shop.

If you are worried about warranty / returns id recommend buying from a newegg or another online store w/ good customer support.

My concerns w/ ebay would be that Intel would ask for a receipt and unless the seller invoices the original invoice a paypal receipt may not be accepted.

Make sure you get the original box and hsf as both are numbered.

I ran into the problem myself.. The warranty on an intel chip is on the chip itself.. basically the serial number on the chip is your warranty.. call them about it because thats what I did. I wanted to know how the warranty works. Like he said above make sure their is a number on the chip and you should be fine.

My personal opinion is that manufacturers only need a serial # for replacing defective parts. For example I got a ASUS mobo as a gift on my birthday and it died after a year. I could easily RMA it without any sles receipt.

basically some are pickier than others.. evga for example needs a copy of your sales order sometimes in order to rma a part.. sometimes.. sometimes you just send them 2 broken video cards that you took apart and smashed and they send you 2 new ones. Every company is different. Intel I dont think even cares about the 3 year warranty. I think they figure by the time you need to replace the chip its gonna be so outdated and worthless that who cares. That was a joke btw above.. well sort of...

Is L649G a good batch for the E6420?
Would it hit 3GHZ

I thought all C2D hit 3ghz with a board that allowed it.

44g's are the bad ones and even those hit 3ghz for the most part, though getting more out of them is a chance afair
