Hi, I've been asked to mod a Mach2GT sometimes ago. I won't write all the thread again (even more in english :D ), just show you some pics I'll make within I sent it back to Bingo le Bino.

First, I'd like to give you my point of view about the stock systems : there isn't R404a enough! After 10mn It goes down to -50° with the frost stopping 10cm before the succion connector (without any load off course)! They should fill a bit more R404a if they want it to be able to carry any load...

The project consist of the addition of a second condenser (ND50F), and a new evaporating kit (made by piotre :) ). I've used 12mm pipe for the succion line because 8mm isn't big enough to have a sufficient margin with the quadcore. There's sth like 2m30 captube (0.8mm), wich is more than long enough ;)

Here are some pics of the job I did yesterday (that's still dirty, I haven't cleaned anything) :

The condensers:

I've won 7° between R290 and R507c in vaccum (-53° --> -60°), temperature decrease faster than it did before (-50° after >7mn , -60° before 4mn now). Of course there's more R507c now and I've got -52° but there's too much liquid return so I had to turn off the system (<-53°). I'll fill it properly with a C2D in the next few days I hope :p:

Very good job there! Quadcore load action wanted :P

It's looking very nice Clem  .

But ...where is fan on condensors ? I think 200+W loads need quite high flow 120mm fan :yepp: .

Peter

The mach2GT has a lian li kit, so there is space between the front pannel and the steel case, I'll put the fan between them (you can see the fan on the pics where I show the temperature, it isn't fixed yet but will be when i'll have made tests :p

Btw I've mounted it yesterday, I've got only -20° on the CPU and the evap is still under -50° with a serious floodback (even at 4ghz - 1.65v), I have mounted it 5 times, the motherboard bends when I screw the nuts so I'll do the entire mounting today after school.

I don't know if the motherboard probe shows the true temperature, speedfan give me the same but doesn't give me the core temps (locked to 5° even when I turn off the mach2  )

how that looks like mine, very alike

i have it running cool, the qx6700 at 4.3ghz 24/7 :)

no problem at all :)

good work on that prommy

@ what temps there?

sorry edit: i have a small monitor: and didn't see the right side of you screen with temps.

nice!

the evaporator doesn`t go below -48 not even when i give 1.8v to the cpu, the dual rad on the front works like a charm :)

Nice job there :D

I've made some test yesterday with a new mouting --> I get the same results, only -18° on CPU (P5N-E SLI probe) it goes down to -14 with superpi 32mo but It was very hot yesterday (the HP was around 18 bar xD, it was only 13 the day before) and the evap goes from -48 to -45° so I don't know where the problem is :

Speedfan doesn't show me anything about core temps (always 5° until the global CPU temp is 15°). The evap seem to be normal, I've tried without thermal greass --> 2° in the bios ...

Any solutions? The mounting is good, I've tested with and without insulation that's the same.

Ok I've place a thermocouple into the socket, to know the CPU's temp. The problem was the prob of the P5N-E SLI that didn't show the true temps under 0°. I'm @ -45° (CPU temp, evap is -49°) with 1.65vcore @ 3ghz (Core2Duo). The liquid return stops 2mm before the compressor and ice is forming vey well. I've test SPI 32mo, I loose 2° (CPU temp) and only 8mm frost on the succion during all the test, so It can't do a better job for a quad core :D

I'll update some pics soon....

Nice job there clemmaster, would it be possible to show the load range that this unit can Handel and the temps for these given load settings I.E 150 watts up-to 250-270 watts ((quad core) ?

nice job on fitting the condenser in front of the other one :D

It would have been better to switch the condensor because the mach2GT one is very restrictiv, the airflow isn't strong (the fan runs @ only 30% because of the thermal probe that isn't placed yet :p)

I've filled it for quadcore so I don't expect to go @ very low temperatures with C2D. Here are some pics:

The prob near the CPU :

The set up :

Liquide return @ IDLE :

After 15-20mn :

CPU temp under SPI 32mo :
http://clemmaster.free.fr/DoD/Mod%20Mach2GT/Bingo%20le%20Bino/CPU_Pi32mo.jpg

Evap temp @ 130-140w (E4300 @ >1.7v - 3.15ghz):
http://clemmaster.free.fr/DoD/Mod%20Mach2GT/Bingo%20le%20Bino/evap_180w.jpg

It's very hot In my room (~30° ambiant), the discharge pressure is over 17bar because of the fan running slow, I think it can achieve -43° CPU temp (-48° evap) easily with the case and a 25° ambiant temperature.

looking good But what are the temps going to be under full load running a quad core at 250 270 watts, yes it is holding good temps at 130-140w but you stated that this unit is for quad core so some results would be nice to see running it under quad core at the load stated above loads.

beau travail
il reste plus qu'a le tester avec un QX6700:lol:
