View Full Version : EPP question
I've noticed that several ram manufacturers are offering EPP or enhanced performance profiles when used with Nvidia motherboards. What I want to know is whether it is possible to manually input the EPP timings on a non-Nvidia mobo (i.e. is the whole EPP thing a marketing scam by Nvidia) or do the rams genuinely run better on Nvidia motherboards?
Hope this isn't a stupid question, I've been out of the loop for sometime so I'm a bit rusty.
GazC, JEDEC consortium didn't adopt Nvidia's personal initiative on EPP. This means the EPP specification is illegitimate and is suppoted by nVidia itself.

this might answer a few questions for you

basically, epp is an extension to the spd, and when put in a motherboard that supports it, makes quick overclocking easy
yes, only certain nvidia based motherboards support it, but when enabled, it does improve performance
however, manual overclocking is still better and faster :p:

EPP.. hmm.. i prefer Manual, its more fun and you can get your ram maximum each timings.

EPP can be cool feature for noobs or anyone who has failed to grasp overclocking. Beyond that go manual, you will get your best results that way.
