I had this problem with my DDC mate, I moved it and it stopped, then started. Then continued to stop/start/vibrate then completely stopped!

maybe it'll just be an add on?
vortex usually occur with strong pumps and not full reservior, maybe simply add more water till full......

I'm having the same problem with my EK-250. You can top it off as much as you want but it will still vortex. Was gonna get a barb for the top and just make a fillport, but I might just wait for this add-on.

^^ if its just an add on, sure i'll buy it.
yes i filled it right up ! put a barb and half a foot of tubing with a fill port and filled that right up. its done the trick !!! no more air popping noises

i also had a cyclone
just fill her up as far as possible. and then turn the pump on and of a few times to get some air out.
the cyclone is created cause there is to much air in the loop, the more air gets out of the loop the smaller the cyclone will become.
i just turned my pump on and of a few dozen times till most of the air was out of it. then i kept the pump running for 30 minuts and most of the air that was stil in the loop was alos gone. then ofc moved the case around a lil to get the air bubles that were stuck free.
took me an hour or 2 to get almost all air out but the cyclone was gone after it.
Old credit cards are handy, cut to fit, then glue it in place, might work.
Old foam out of an Eheim 1048 stuff in place

Any filter foam from a pet store with aquarium supplies works.
Aquaclear, Eheim, etc.
Just cut it out to fit inside the EK res.
Problem gone.

Eddy seems to really like to go to town with all of his solid works drawings:)
I wonder if he uses Flow Works to test his blocks?

Put me in the waiting list ^^;
Ever since I changed the swifty rad for a PA120.2 and the Apogee for a Fuzion I don't have a cyclone, I have a goddamn maelstrom.
When the DD 8800 blocks goes, and the stealth takes it's place, I bet the bottom of the whirlpool will reach the res's outlet, and that's going to be trouble. Big trouble.

LOL... you should see my neighborhood's friend EK150 res and his Iwaki pump. I thought the cyclone from my DDC-2 was bad, his cyclone looked like Moses stopped in side and separated the water right down the middle. It seriously looks like a big gaping funnel from top to bottom.
In any case, I look forward to the new revision and hope it's sold at a reasonable price for those affected.

lmao. when i switched to a PA with the petra's top on my Ultra DDC, thats when i knew it was bad news
Just get your credit card and cut it up. Call you credit card people and say you had it nicked and need a new one. Only need sharp sissors, super glue and you can easyly make that!
Just hope this ones works

IF i can get a RD-30 to work with this you guys can get a DDC-2 solo to work fine.

example.
And there is no way your DDC-2 can pump more water then my RD-30. :P

Hmmm... superglue... acrylic... glycol... Doesn't look like a good mix to me.
Fill it up to the top, and then add a barb at the top.
In my particular case that's going to look slightly odd.

not really odd, but maybe too extreme if you have to mount an antenae like structure just to have a fillport topmost... hehehe
do you actually need to superglue a card type there? maybe cut it to sized and insert/wedge it in bottom cap should work fine...

if you have a amex centurion, that would make one hell of a sexy divider. But you would seriously need to think twice before you cut up a 2000 dollar credit card.

Im currently in the process of getting one. Those cards give UBER benifits to people in my field. But there so rediculously expensive.

Is the vortex formed from plumbing the inlet nd outlet from the bottom? Or is it feeding the res from the top as well?

For obvious reasons I haven't tried to feed the res from the top.
I think that function > form, but that's pushing it a bit too far :D

I get the problem both ways: with the inlet being at a horizontal position on the bottom and the outlet being in the vertical position and with both outlet/inlet in the horizontal position. However, the cyclone appears to be much "stronger" when the outlet is in the vertical position.
Sorry to interject.. this will sound rude.. but I guess I have the reputation of being rude already... but isn't the manufacturer somehow not owning up to a flawed design ? How about the honorable thing to do.. as in a product recall.. as in a add-in replacement being shipped out ? What is this? Caveat Emptor ?
Thankfully he's not American. John Edwards would be all over him.
I think Eddy has been awear of it and what with huge order and CEBIT he's been busy. Know he had new machines fitted and stuff. There is a new part coming, when i duno and if he it pffering to swap or send a modded part out to fit in...whom knows.
The credit card work fine, fact you can wedge in place even
