can any one tell me the best way to insulate my water block now i have a sheet 1\2 inch armaflex and some 1\8 inch insulation wrap now should i make like a sandwich out of my block and armaflex and dielectric grease or should i wrap it with self sticking 1\8 inch insulation and use the 1\2 inch armaflex on the front and back of my mobo can some one please help me don't wish to smoke anything and is there anything special i need to do to my mobo other then the dielectric grease and armaflex

Depends on the block. I made a sandwich with my apogee. I cut a base that fit snug around the socket, cpu, and block. You can do this with your 1/2 inch armaflex, and use the tape to make thin layers. In between each piece is a thin layer of dielectric grease. Use armaflex or layered tape to insulate the back of the board. I used silicone and mouse pads. Insulate the entire cpu socket thoroughly with dielectric grease before putting in the cpu. Put a layer of dielectric grease on the mobo underneath the first layer of the sandwich.

ok well right now i have a zalman ZM-WB3 and it is not held down with 4 bolts because i am putting it on a AMD 939 board and only has 2 anchor spots could i maybe use my old thermaltake t plate

what is that insulation material? What type of liquid will run through the CPU?

holy smoke. windshield fluid ! I never heard anyone done that before. I am confused by the setup in the picture. How do you get the liquid to circulate through that tiny space where the hose connector appear on top of the arma flex?

I wouldn't recommend windshield washer fluid. Use a mix of denatured alcohol (Lowes, Ace Hardware) and distilled water. The ratio will depend on the temp you plan on getting down to. I use about 1/2 denatured alcohol, 1/2 distilled water, and a splash of antifreeze.

if I want the temp to drop down to 20 degree celcius, do I put in more alcohol and antifreeze?

I thought you guys buy this special fluid online. I saw the website swiftnet sell the fluid. Is this fluid any better than home made version?

Drewmeister over at EOCF personally recommends windshield washer fluid, as it's primary components are A. water and B. antifreeze. You then add some methanol/ethanol if you need to go lower.

I just picked up a few gallons of -50*C windshield fluid for 8 bucks the other week.

well i find windsheld fluidworks real good i just have a tiny compressor 1/10 hp and i can get my fluid down to -10c but this is my first system and i made it out of parts i found so it was free just hade to but it together

i made somewhat of a clamshell for around my mcw6002-64 when i use my chiller . i used like 4 or 5 layers of armaflex insulation with small sealing strips on the bottom of the layers.

so i am useing a zalman ZM-W3B Gold does anyone know how low of a temp this block will hold before i have to take out the seal and what should i replace it with
