I have searched around for an answer to this question but have not found a straight answer among all the rumors and changes. So here goes...

Despite all the announced problems I am planning to buy vista home basic 64-bit. I would pay $95 for the OEM copy from newegg.

My only real concern is how does it react to multiple reinstalls and hardware changes? I know that if you switch something it wants a reactivation or a fresh install wants a reactivation. I am just worried about my copy being invalidated among the new vista activation policy. Can I activate it 100 times over like I have with my copy of XP or does it only allow a certain number of activations and then asks you to buy a new copy of vista?

Thanks for the help

Activations are unlimited.

You can make any number of activations upto a certain point over the internet. After that you will have to call M$ to activate your copy, at which point they will reset your activation count and you are back to square one!!!

So, the OEM version of VISTA is just like the XP version, rebuild your system, if you cannot reactivate over the 'net, just call MS and all is well?
