What up everyone at Xtreme System. I'm new on here and readin' some of your post is bad @$$, I'm into cars mostly but right now i'm thinkin' about buildin' a desktop for my house, right now our old desktop is an HP wit 60GB HD, 128MB of RAM, and runnin' on Window 98...... So yeah that computer is outdated.
I have a laptop that is a Sony Vaio runnin' on XP Pro wit a 60 GB HD, and 704 MB of RAM.... and we use it on a dily basis, and I would like to turn away from it.
For the new desktop i'll be usin' it for PhotoShop CS2, music, movies, and internet use. I will be wantin' to use XP Pro.
So as of right now I know what processor I would like to use which is the Intel Core2Duo E6600, as for the who motherboard i'm still decidin' on it.
I've gone to SMKSuperStore to look at some of their motherboard offerin's. A local friend suggested MSI, Abit, and i think Foxconn, I've heard mixed reviews on MSI, friend says he loves it, and i'm on another board, nad they said MSI lately have been runnin' into some memory issues....
I was think of Abit..... but not sure.
Here is a the link to her motherboard combo's: URL="http://www.smksuperstore.com/769/Catalog/Combos_With_Intel_Core_2_Duo.htm"]http://www.smksuperstore.com/769/Catalog/Combos_With_Intel_Core_2_Duo.htm[/URL]
If you select one of the combos and put it together that would be great.
As for PSU i was thinkin' of gettin' a 500 watt unit, suggestions on what company would be great.
As for cases it's come down to 3.

As for cases i would like a windowed one, that is enough room for a small water coolin' unit, esy to work wit. The one I've listed above... are they good. Opinion's on the one i posted would be great also.
If I've left anythin' out, just post it and I'll reply back to it.
Thanks for any input.

you can't judge by board build

you have to go board by board ... if the board is buggy then it is

i've seen msi put out some great boards and some really crappy ones

same thing can be said about almost every board company

I'm looking for a motherboard and CPU together.
As for cases, i would like a silver mid-tower case with a clear window on the side.
The motherboard you posted looks good.

Out of interest Why?

sure bundles can save you a couple of quid (from the UK) but usually they are bundled together because no one will buy that motherboard and there is a surplus so they stick it on offer along with a CPU.

the build listed there is very nice and is certainly better than my rig ATM except i would get at least a 160GB HDD seagate or WD

I assume because he does not have experience mounting a cpu and motherboard and wants minimal construction. More like a furniture store and less like Ikea.

This being said, It isn't very difficult to mount a Heatsink and CPU with a guide like you can find online. Just ask

I don't think buying a bundle would mean the CPU & heatsink are already installed. Could be wrong though since I don't buy bundles often.

Is 500 GB too much??

I don't think that mountin' a CPU onto the motherboard should be that hard.....

Yeah when i was lookin' at the Abit motherboards, i think they had like 1066/800 fsb??
I could be wrong.... I think i could've been readin' the wrong numbers too.....
Well "Solarfall" what motherboard do you recommend??
I was thinkin' of nothin' more than $300 max for just the motherboard.

Depends. If you plan on doing alot of DVD-ripping, or have alot of very large files to download, it's feasible, but 500GB is a bit overkill for just a basic home PC.

Apparently you have a very stretchable budget. I'd go with something along the lines of the Infinity P965-S Dark. If you really want to burn money, buy an Abit QuadGT.

Decent system build..

Abit QuadGT Mobo (169.99) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127019)

Corsair CMPSU620 620W PSU (169.99) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139002)

$1749.82 total for a very nice rig capable of running anything you throw at it.

You said you had no real budget, so there you go. That's just the basics, you'll need other stuff like case fans, TIM, etc.

Also, out of those cases, I'd probably recommend the Aurora, but I don't really think any of them are all that spectacular. Full tower is the way to go (superior cooling, easier workspace, more expandability), and the CMStacker is damn near unbeatable.
