My E4300 + DS3 Rev 3.3 (F10)

2.7Ghz stock Vcore

Bios reports similar to everest and speedfan

Thermalright Ultra 90 + 120 CFM Tornado + AS5

Idle Temps Below !!!!

BIOS & Everest CPU measurements come from the on-board SuperIO Chipset thermistors, so it's usually quite off the reality.
The CoreTemp & T.A.T. temperatures are the correct ones.
As for the...disagreement between T.A.T. & CoreTemp it's the monitoring update frequency setting on T.A.T.

well the thing is....

i upgraded to the f11 bios which is known for having incorrect temps (10-15c) higher. downgraded back to f10 and i think tat and core temp is still showing temps based on the f11 bios.

if i restart... my bios reports temps similar to everest/speedfan.

Actually your F11 bios reported temps from DTS whereas F10 reported temps using an on-board termistor. No matter which bios you use, trust coretemp and TAT.

wow.... if thats the case.

i think thats kinda too hot for my e4300 at 2.7 stock vcore?

ultra 90 +as5 + tornado

my ambient temps are pretty good and i have really good air flow in my case

That's in idle ?
If yes, check your CPU's IHS flatness.

yea those are my idle temps....

the ihs on both my heatsink + cpu is pretty flat which i looked at carefully before installing. im guessing the temps from my bios/speedfan/everest would be more appropriate in this situation?

Nope, the T.A.T. temps are correct.
Might be a hottie ( hot chip ) or a not so good IHS ( how did you check the flatness btw ? )

dabomb505 - why do you care so much about idle temps? Show us yor full load temps using SP 2004 small FFTs, as full load temps really matter!

Only trust Core temp and TAT.
Or other programs that only collects data from the digital thermal sensor (DTS)

Intel T.A.T id the most accurate it gets it's sensor info directly from the on die sensors.

speedfan also reads the onboard sensor and core sensor.

just use speedfan. but it doesnt support all mobo's and neither does TAT. tat only works on intel based chipsets.
ie. the nvidia boards will not work.
it also can give you errors when disabling CI and EIST depending on the board.
speedfan can not and does not automatically name the temps, thus the temp 1 2 3 etc.
it does name the core temps as Core though.

i have and will always use Speedfan as it reports everything.

also on Core temps.
this is new within the last year, these are not the temps we have always used, these are, as its been said the on die temps, so they will always be higher than the standard sensor readings.
always.

use what you want but dont be shocked when you see core temps 20+ degrees different from the standard cpu temp's.

so do you use the cpu temp or core temps in speedfan

I have a G47 that core temp reported initally temps at or below ambient..impossible

right now:
ambient is 24.2C
idle
coretemp core1/2 25-28/27-29C

TAT 31/29C
speedfan
core 0/1 25/28
cpu temp 36

Blend..load
Coretemp 42/43C
TAT 42/43C
speedfan:
core0/1 43/43
cpu temp 55

what is the "cpu temp as measured by speedfan

TAT is a tool designed for mobile core 2 duos, so unless you have a notebook it is not designed for your processor. The load feature on TAT is useful because it rerally knows how to stress c2d's but you cannot trust the temp. According to intel's forums the mobiles get a set tjunction that TAT uses in a simple formula with the DTS reading to calculate temp. Programs like TAT and coretemp attempt to do this on desktop core2duo's that do not have a tjunction set. This accounts for the 15 degree variances, tjunctions are being assumerd to be 85C or 100C.

You cannot know the temp of the desktop core2duo absolutely. But you cxan know the DTS, switch your reading in coretemp to DTS and learn to use it. Stay above 20 DTS and you should be fine.
