I bought a bunch of YL D12SL-12 fans and some sleeving.
I just have a couple questions before I dive right in
Can somebody explain to me the proper steps to slicing off the 4pin molex so i can sleeve just the fan with just a 3pin connector?
thanks in advance

Im going to be doing this soon as my yates fan arrive, the way i`ll be doing it is to cut the wire off as close to the fan body as pos, then just braid it like normal.
Pop the 3 pins out with a small flat bade screw driver
Then you'll see where the 4 pin molex conects off the 3 pin
Cut it as low down and close as you can.
Sleave and heatsrink
Then refit the 3 pin's and there ya go

it seems like there are only 2 leads in the 3pin connector, the yellow and red
those are the only ones I need? or do I need to splice one of the wires off the 4pin connector and recrimp a pin onto it to make it a 3 pin?
im confused

so basically just take a black lead from the 4pin molex and put it in the 3pin
ok seems simple enough
thanks to everyone who helped

Nope it's simpler than that.
The 3 pin already has red and black and yellow in them (it has to have black, its ground ;) )
Are you crimping the pins back onto them?
AGGGGGHHH god can we not make this anymore easyer. Right follow my guide on the link given
Flate blade screw drive
Push the 3 pins out
Wirecutters
Cut the wire, red and black that come off the 4 pin. You cut it where it joins on the 3 pin as low down as you can. There really thin wirse, thinenr than the fan wire it's self.
Just remember what order to plug in to the 3 pin plastic job bloody done.
If you are still confused i sergest a drive into a brick wall with no seat bealt on.
My guide i did is dead clear as you can see the old cable just

Basically, to cut off the 4 pin connector on that fan... you just simply cut it off..
I am not sure what the big deal is. Take scissors, cut 4 pin connector off. done. It's not going to hurt anything so don't be shy.
for best results, cut as close to the 3 pin connector as possible, so you don't have wires just hanging around and to prevent shorts (short circuit)
If you want to cut really close to the 3 pin connector, you can take the 3 pin molex connector off. Optional.
