View Full Version : Does the 8KHA+ have a OVP or is my board just on it's last leg?

As most of you may know, I have either killed, RMAed (SDS) or had the famous corrupt BIOS issue on my last 6 NF2 boards, so I have just started using my backup board, a 8KHA+. I have been having some issues when running either of my 1700 DLT's past 1.625v's for some reason. Heat is not a issue, running a SLK-800 with a 92mm Tornado, idles at case temps and around 5c over at full loads. I had the same problem when running on my 8RDA+'s until I did the OVP mod to them.

Does the 8KHA+ have the same thing or is it just on it's last leg of overclocking? And if so, does anyone know or can anyone link me to a OVP mod for it? I have done a lot of searching the last few days but come up with nil on either or. I know it is not a CPU issue since I was able to run both at 1.75 - 1.8v's on the last 2 NF2 boards I have had.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks :)...

From memoy you can remoe the OVP by adding 50k to pins 3,4,5 and 6 to ground.

macci did this on his board to get over 2v vcore.

You shouldnt need this mod at 1.75v, it sounds more like your board PSU or CPU is broke.

Thanks Holst...thats was my first though about the board, but just wanted to make sure...its had been work horse for me for over a year now...then got put up when the NF2's came out....Must say though...still an excellent board, even if it isn't OCing as well as it was before...Much better then the crappy A7N8X Deluxe that lasted a great big 4 hours :censored:

Appreciate the fast response :)...

Im still a big 8kha+ fan, my board can still keep in touch with my NF2 fsb wize although it is a tad slower and I have to run PIO mode :D

AMD boards certainly havent advanced the way intel boards have now 867/875 are out.

My 8kha+ is still running strong, but it does drain alot of power from the +5 line. It could actually be, that it's more of a power hog then the nf2 motherboards? I have a decent antec 350w powersupply, and my +5 goes down to 4.83 under heavy load.

This is with a dlt3c 1800+ @ 2.35ghz with 1.7vcore.
