to take the stock cooler off my NF7 and stock a copper vante iceberg on it. Then put the stock one on my southbridge.
Would I gain much/anything by doing this?

if it is anything like the 8rda+ this will help a good bit. The nf7 seems to hit high enough fsb that it would not make much of a difference.
Is the nb or sb heatsink hot? If so it may help, but if it is cool than i would not bother.

that will help becuase most anything is better than stock cooling

It couldn't hurt, but it's not guaranteed to help either. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'd go for it.

when you get the board, put the screws to it right away. If it gets hot, (NB, & SB) then maybe it could use the extra cooling. Twisted is right though. It couldn't hurt.:D
Maybe try the larger zalman chipset coolers but fit 40mm fans to em. Should work a treat especially as the vantec is similar to the stock cooler, advantage of vantec is its copper however not aluminium

I already have the vantec iceberg, which is why I was wondering. UPS seems to be moving slow with this, and you know how it is when your waiting for hardware to build a system. It's worse since this will be my first home-built system.

that is the first step to becoming a man. Next is pelt cooling.:D

pelt cooling=too expensive for my blood. (I'm only 14, I mow lawns for a job).
Next on my upgrade list is the lowly gefroce 3 ti 200.

Craig i know, the zalman + 40mm fan is a really good combo, i have ordered 2 of these + 2 40mm fans, 1 for 1 northbridge and 1 for southbridge

Yay! Some one agrees.
sandman, as you already have it, yes, copper conducts heat better than aluminium (which is what the stock cooler is made of)
go for it and good luck with your system, im only 16 and at 14 I was mowing lawns to get my Pentium 3 system and then I got the system I have now when i got a parttime job in a computer shop at weekends.
Good luck!

I would rather save $10 and have a zalman + fan. It probably cools better too considering it is 3x the size with a significantly better fan. People don't like the icegerg lately, i would not get it.
edit--> whatever you get, just get 1. the stock nb heatsink is pretty good. Just lap it and put it on the sb with some as3, maybe a fan, but i doubt you would need a fan on that if you have decent case cooling.
