Got a new heatsink to do some testing, from 3R Systems. The first impression i got from the heatsink was that at best it would be a few degrees highers than my Tuniq Tower. However, i carried on with the testing anyways.
http://www.3rsys.com/

To start with, i did a extremely unfair comparison against my Turniq Tower.
Now to get maximum heat i used one of my hotest CPUs, with 2 Seventeen or Bust clients running and 2 Prime95, here's the spec.

System Specs:
Intel Pentium D 940 3.2Ghz @ 4.3Ghz (270mhzX16)
Asus P5WD2 Premium
Kingston DDR-667 1GB X2

My Turniq Tower had a delta fan inside and i got 61C at full load.
Then i tested the Iceage 120, and i got 58C full load and 42C Idle  . Ok, something is wrong so i went back and dusted off my Turniq Tower, and after a few tries at remounting the heatsink my best temps were 58C full load and 43C Idle.

Ok, so this new heatsink is good, very good, but what will happen if i placed my delta fan on the iceage?

Full load temps were 56C and idle temps were 42C. So this new heatsink beat my Turniq Tower, why?
Well this heatsink uses a new design, the heatpipes are not on top of a copper plate like most heatsinks, this heatsink has heatpipes that are directly in contact with the CPU :D if you look at their website you'll see what i mean.

This heatsink is the best heatsink i have tested yet, the original fan is designed to be silent but still provides temps that match my turniq tower with a 3700rpm delta fan inside :D that says something doesn't it?
If you're the type that wants every last drop of performance, get yourself a delta fan, you won't be disappointed.

This heatsink is now in my main rig, and i love it.

Here is a direct link to the heatsink, have a look. If you're in the market for a new heatsink give the Iceage 120 a try.

Here's a recap:

Turniq Tower with Delta fan 43C Idle and 58C Full load.
Iceage 120 with original fan 42C Idle and 58C Full load.
Iceage 120 with Delta fan 42C idle and 56C Full load.

Looks petty good so far.

The mounting system looks a bit weak tho.

The mounting bracket does look a bit weak, but hasn't caused any problems so far.

The price is about HKD100 less than say a turniq tower.

for the size i have 2 say this cooler is looking very good.

I wonder how it stacks up against the ultima 90 ad the ultra 120 extreme tho.

That "Direct Touch Heatpipe" seems a good idea to me. This may be the next step in Heatsink evolution; but I can imagine base flatness problems that gives; and would it benefit from lapping at all (there are areas between the pipes that don't touch the IHS/core).

Read carefully, 100 dollars and 100 dollars cheaper makes a huge difference.
