Does the extra L2 cache in Bartons make them any better at folding?

I don't think it would make much of a difference at all.

As folding is highly CPU intensive, and eahc WU is divided into smaller stages, cache would make minimal difference to the overall folding speed.
Major components would be CPU speed, FSB speed and memory timings imo.

If it's anything like 3d rendering, then speed (mhz or instructions per cycle, however you want to measure it) makes the biggest difference. I've tested keeping the CPU at the same mhz but changing the FSB and multiplier for Lightwave rendering and it didn't make much of a difference.

Ok Here's MY barton 2500+ at a relaxed 2100 mhz.

I have a 1700+ JIUHB clocked at 2090 and it gets almost identical times per frame for 54x proteins so I suspect that bartons don't give much of a boost if any (fsb and mem speed will make more difference I would think)
