I have a L701C326 E6600 and it overclocks pretty good. I am 12hrs prime stable at 3.6ghz w/ 1.43V (actual). I have posted about it in the E6600 new steppings thread.

I was under the impression it denoted where the chips were manufactured.
A/B = Malay?
F = Philippines?
G=?
C=?
I am not entirely sure, though.
where did you order you e6600 from to get a c batch?

The first letter/number represents the FAB location I am 100% sure. :p:

I bought my C E6000 from Fry's. Oh and like Shim said, the first digit denotes where the chips were manufactured. For example, L701C was made in L which stands for Malaysia. (hint - it also says on the right side of the box label where it was made)

The first number/letter?
You mean like L6 or L7? That denotes the year the CPU was made... L629B Week 29 year 2006.
Unless you're pulling my leg or I am completely mistaking you... in that case, :P.

hehehe.
The second, third, fourth digits represent the month/year which you are right about.
The first digit can actually be a number as well like 7.

Ahh I see. Well, you learn something new everyday.
So back to square one I guess - what do the letters mean?

It has been said that it stands for amount of drive or amps the cpu takes.
Intel is continuing to work the amount of drive their cpus take.

Just a shot in the dark but I would think that the A/B/C/F/G then the 3 numbers following have something to do with what type of silicon wafer it is and what etching processes were used. I know that they do slightly vary doping in the silicon across wafer types and it would make sense to want to have an ID in the FPO/Batch number so they can keep track of what methods do best.

Thats better volts then the other batches isnt it? like L G. IS the C batch close to the B batch?
