I'm going bonkers with this...

I want to build a micro-ATX computer for a friend. Nothing flashy, just functional.

I have a C2D T5500 lying around that I'd like to use. I also have 2x1GB SO-DIMMs (PC2-5300) which could go well with it.

But... choosing a MB is driving me bananas.

So in the end I've reduced it to the two quoted in the subject line. The only differences between the two are:

- VIIV support (irrelevant).
- GbE controller (one is Marvell, the other Intel).
- Chipset, the former is based on the 945GM and the latter on the 945GT (no s**t sherlock).

So, question time...

a) GM or GT?
b) What kind of aftermarket CPU cooler can I use? The holes disposition/distance looks like S775, but I'm not quite sure.

Thanks

nvm... practicalities took the decision out of my hands.

The GT based MB needs to be flashed to the latest BIOS using a supported CPU (CD or Celeron) in order to recognize C2D CPUs, where the GM one does it out of the box.

So... that's the issue resolved ^^
