Right now I have this E6600 that does 3.6ghz at 1.475v stable, but my board caps at ~451mhz for super pi 1m and I think it's half dead too. I have two major options to be considered:

1. Buy a new board that will actually overclock (Roughly €200 to spend)
2. Buy an E6700 (for €295)

What do you guys think?

FYI - I think the E6700 is going for $325 now = 238.177 EUR.

If you think the boards half dead RMA it then and get a new one, thing with soem 975 chipset baords that 400mhz is the magical region , any higher is not guaranteed unless with high MCH voltages wich seems to kill many baords in the long run..., I would try to RMA it or get a P5B DLX ,QuadGT or so that will be safer to overclock higher with ya current CPU...

mrcape, $325 would usually be €325 for the same thing over here. €295 is doing well! I'll actually being paying in the region of €243 as I don't need to pay vat. If I was to get a new board I have a feeling I would go for the BX2, for some reason I just really like 975 for perf.

Edit: Just one more thing... I have only two choices for NB cooling (if I stay with this board) The Noctua NC-U6 and the Cooler Master Blue Ice. Which of these is better? or are they any good at all?
