View Full Version : creative x-fi X-Fi XtremeMusic wont work with xp

ok bought a ome X-Fi XtremeMusic of ebay and when i installed it i found out that i had to download the .iso.then a few hours i insalled it but notihng happend when i click on the sound connection icon it comes up cannot detect audio device.

when i start up windows its show multimedia audio controller found .

so that means that windows can see the x-fi.i have turned off azilla link in bios and that dident change anything

anyideas guys ??

Awhir, it sounds like Windows is seeing the board. It may be seeing an on-board sound controller though (not sure of your mobo layout). Try this:

1. Go into BIOS and make sure that the PCI slots are enabled and onboard audio is DISABLED. Make sure IRQs are available for the board.
2. Try to make sure that everything on the card looks good; jumpers are there in the correct spot, no burn marks.
3. see if there is any info in the system event logs.
4. Try to re-download drivers. Do this off of creative if at all possible.
5. Take it to another system and see if it installs and works there.

If # 5 does not work, then probably a bad board. If it does, then probably a driver or IRQ/Resource issue.
