View Full Version : SENNHEISER HD 280, is it my best choice ?
Planning to order tomorrow a good headphone for personal usage, i usually use headphones most of the time when playing games or watching media
i can only buy from newegg and i don't want to exceed the 80$ budget unless the difference in price is very small but the difference in quality is not small
so shall i go with the HD280 or can you suggest something else with better quality and in the same range of price or something with same quality but cheaper ?

hd555 if you wanna spend an extra 30.
i find open cans, have a more natural sound
not to mention, very very comfortable.
you can wear for hours. no pinching ears or tightness
maybe messy hair from wearing them too long. lol

I have had both 280s and 555s. I liek the 555s alot better, but I still think the 280s are probably the best headphones for the price and the cheapest good headphones.
i wear glasses will the 555 be better for me than the 280 ?
also what is he difference between the headphone i listed above and the one below

EDIT:
seems that the silver is the new version with nothing new except the colour

the 280 actually get in the way of glasses
cause the last time i had a pair on. them :banana::banana::banana::banana:s were tight
thats why i prefer a 555 instead. as its loosier and is glass friendlier that way
....ooo faux velour/ velour ear cups.... oOoOooo feels nice.
but cant match my 650 ear cups.. ooo OO soft..
someone needs a room here :P
well the 650 is toooo much expensive for me
i am now deciding between the 555 and 280
thunderstruck!

I use 280PRO with glasses, never was a problem. Hope you have a good sound card.

The guys over @ head-fi, swear over the Koss KSC75, cheap and highly effective, rivaling others in a much higher price category. IEMs might also be a possibility.
i currently have the Audigy2 zs and if needed i can get the X-Fi again

HD 280s don't hold up very well... the headband is all plastic and it breaks over time. I would get HD555s because open cans sound so much better.
Sennheisers in general are more on the sound side and less on the robustness side. After a couple years they are down. That'll never happen to my 20 year old AKG and even less so to my new Beyerdynamic.
I have a Sennheiser 250 and it's just more flimsy.
Now, they sound great for what they cost.

I just bought the 555. The 280 pros were good but they are kinda tight. Sound wasn't bad at all. Hoping th 555 blow them away.

They were 85 on Newegg, hd 280, and that is a great price. The HD 555 are $30 more but SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it.:woot: :woot: :woot:
Even though they are open ear the surround you in pure sweet sound. They haven't even been broken in!!! I can't wait to see what they sound like then.
