anything can beat an xfi.
its been said in alot of audio forums, there are better chipsets then creative's offering
and a hell of a better price.

in my own opinion.. i dont find any difference in sound cards for gaming unless you FPS. thats the only difference. whereas some cards will process in surround effects,
like itll lower or raise volumes here and there. make it seem real.

to my knowledge... pretty much alot of cards can do this..

I agree you have to have a Creative card for good FPS audio positioning

Anything is better than XFi for music. XFi is better than anything else for gaming.

I have tried various sound cards, and the xfi is still at the top of my list

Ok I have narrowed it down to 3 cards

1. AuzenTech XMYSTIQUE 7.1 (http://www.auzentech.com/site/products/x-plosion.php)

2. Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic (http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=208&product=14066)

3.Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer (http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=208&product=15853)

Hmm why does the XtremeMusic look like an Audigy 2, while the XtremeGamer looks like a small cheapo card?

What does the black heatsink signify?

I have one on my X-fi Fatality.

it means that those are the updates x-fi cards with the latest firmware that doesn't cause any sound problems with nf4 mobos

I had the Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series ( One with the black heatsink ) All it did was pop , snap, screech 90% of the time. I RMA'd it 3 times and finally got my money back. So I'm looking for a different card that will work great for gaming. I'll go with a X-FI if I find one I like.

So shoot me any sound cards you guys recommend.

why is everyone still discuss XFI?
i mean over and over. it sucks.
if a sound card is 7.1 . it can game,
if its 2.1 itll still game.

i just prefer envy24ht/gt over any creative chip

I took your reco ooeric and I want to thank you!!! THANKS.

You're 2 for 2!!!

The HD555 and the Chaintech duo is working TREMENDOUS. Blows away the X-Fi (elite too).

Now I'm thinking what an Amp might do...
