Okay well I had to RMA my 6600, sent it to intel, had to pay 30 bucks to send it to them, and then they mail me back my old one, instead of replacing it. They say " I can't read the back, scratched". Basically they think I tampered with it, when I didn't do :banana::banana::banana:, tuniq tower must have :banana::banana::banana:ed up the laser etchings. So am I SOL, or what ?

Wow, the bottom of that hsf looks pretty nasty, did you have gravel under it when you mounted? Yikes!

My guess, you're sol.

Sorry, I didn't understand, they couldn't read label on the IHS or what?
And what happened to cpu, did it work at suddenly stopped one day? I haven't seen any conroes die (except those who tried removing IHS lol)

Yeah they couldn't read the batch/prod code on the IHS. Processor overheated, comp automatically restarted, and wouldn't post, didn't have it mounted properly. Yeah I guess the heatsink looks pretty bad, lol.

Why not RMA it to the shop you purchased it from? I know Newegg offers something like 6 months.

Yeah I wish I could, my local shop only offers 10 days, and from there its only manufacturers warranty.

That's grim-and the reason I'm paranoid about lapping mine. I'm sure they'd void the warranty immediately.
