Everyone is talking about the fall of AMD/ATi, but the RV610 and RV630 cards are selling like beer for free. Till the end of 2007 ATi could sell over 100 million 65nm GPUs.

Get real..100million in what..7-8months? In 2006 ATI/AMD sold about 70 million over the entire year in ALL segments.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20070205075010.html

No wonder you keep linking to theinq and fudzilla to try and chant on ATI/AMD. Thats about the only place you find these crackpipe stories.

And we still have to see the first 65nm GPU to be sold. If AMD/ATI is really really really lucky. They might sell 100 million GPUs total in 2007. And That would be 90/80/65nm and so on. But R6xx series would account for the minority part.

Get real..100million in what..8months? Big wakeup call..will ATI have over 100% marketshare the rest of the year? All vendors (AMD, Intel, nVidia, SiS, VIA) sell 300 million GPUs combined in a year.

I'm not sure why AMD would need "over 100% marketshare" to sell 100M cheap 65nm GPUs considering 600-series chips have no comparable competitors.

How long is there left of the year? Q1 sales is already 100% missed with 0 65nm shipped and 0 R6xx shipped. And IGPs would have to be removed aswell. How much is left..and when is it we gonna see these cards?

With 100million. AMD/ATI would have a 50% increase compared with their previous marketshare. Now with Q1 lost...do you really think R6xx is jesus on earth? Even if Dell only sold R6xx from now on it wouldnt be more than about 30 million.

I've heard that 100 million number floated around earlier. That AMD expected to ship 100 million 65nm parts in 2007. My first reaction was that that was both cpu's and gpu's together. Dunno of course.

lol, but I still prefer 65nm chip's ahoy. :D Perhaps R650? :slobber:

The demand is there for that many chips...the doubt is in whether AMD can provide the supply.

True. Orton did say 65nm is ramping extremely well though, so I imagine yeilds must be good.

The main point is, regardless of if this is 100% correct, as obviously 100M units is quite a bit, this is welcomed news for AMD (and nn_step).

How many units of Xbox will move this year, plus laptops, plus desktops running ATI graphics, plus r600, plus the integrated graphics. Even including all that, 100 million still sounds like a big number.

Well if this part is suppose to be small and efficent, plus have all the HD features from get go that means that all those 100's of millions of Dell like cheap PC's will have one of them in it. So is it impossible? well not really its the matter how likley is it that it will be that popular. For most part i dont think none of you will agree until you see the benchmarks and price. Now as we have to wait for that at least we can all and try to disscuss the likelieness of that happening and what could it mean and how it might happend, instead of saying INQ suxs and if you post any news from there you are banned.

Sure they might write loads of bolox most of the time but hey sure gets you guys arguing dont they, or maybe just shouting/flamming.

Relax everyone. You don't have to believe the inq to have a legitimate discussion on the topic....not to mention, no one took as fact in the first place.

Banning ppl for linking to news sites in the news section would be counter intuitive.

but the question isn't if you could beat someone to death with it, the question is if the act is actually worth the cost of the card.

Just because no one here has seen any 65nm GPU cores sold, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

So does that mean those paddles they shock you with is just VPU Recover?

The interesting thing about this article (if true) is how it will affect availability to upgraders/self build. If they are all being sold to OEM they might have a paper launch on them until OEM demand eases or production increases.

But it does show that sales of ATI are still strong even with numerous delays.

There are a few very exiting details in those pics...

See that silkscreen rectangle around the GPU?
What's interesting, there are words "hinge (http://img.album.pchome.net/00/77/03/51/90a674c87b042c71fc02f43ec173224e.jpg)" and "latch (http://img.album.pchome.net/00/77/03/51/0601ef24713c778f8869234c6efc3a1f.jpg)" printed there...

If this is not an omen of GPU sockets then I don't know what is.
