Looks to be a solid PC overall.

Don't bother with the 6000+, especially if you plan on overclocking.

I recommend A power supply change because Thermaltake Power supply's are over rated. Grab the Corsair 520 watt amd don't let the lover wattage fool you. That thing is a beast with industrial grade components. Will give you the most solid voltages you can think of.

This thing is amazing.
I would also recommend a 965P MB because I think the Nvidia 6XX were rushed. DS3/DQ6/QuadGT. Very good stuff. :fact:

It couldn't hurt to get better RAM; those Corsair sticks you listed use Promo chips and will not handle FSBs upward of 400. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231065
This is in case you luck out and get a spectacular chip. Those Corsair will run an E6600 perfectly fine up to 3.6 GHz though. :)

I second that, except for the part about the NF680/650 being rushed ()

Unless you want to go SLI just go with a DS3 or P5W DH Deluxe.

For PSU, check Perkam's list here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=108088)

Overall, though you will enjoy that rig :)

i think that corsair would be promos

I believe that to be d9GHM based off the reviews, but not entirely sure

it's sold out now though...

well let me express my opinion too =D
The motherboard.... do you really need SLI? i mean you're getting an 8800GTS 320mb's so i guess you're going to sli with the same one, which makes almost no sense because you might as well get an 8800GTX
Also the motherboard only allows you to run 8x half the speed in SLI

Asus P5N-E SLI nForce 650i SLI Socket 775 1066MHz DDR2-800 Motherboard Retail ***Free Shipping***
800/1066/1333FSB, ATA/133, 4DDR2 DIMM, 2 PCI Express x16 (x8 each in SLI), 1 PCI Express x1, 2PCI, USB 2.0/1.1, IEEE 1394a, Audio, Gigabit LAN, RAID/SATA

That would just bottleneck your video cards if you decide to go SLI. Also if you're on a tight budget right now i would suggest getting an EVGA 8800GTS 320 video card, which will allow you to upgrade using the step up program in a time period of 90 days.

I agree with both of these statments. A 965p like the Biostar Tforce runs $105 and has great clocking potential. TT psu's are crap IMO. If you must go SLi go witht he 680i chip set mobo so you can go 16x on both cards.

If money is an issue just run one GTS for now and then go to the new ATI when it comes out. Should PWN the 88xx's. Full 16x on one is better then x8 on 2 with the card you are thinking. If you go with the 640mb version might be different.

Not a bad idea either.

Either way sounds like a good plan for a hella system!

Incorrect.

http://www.techspot.com/review/45-nvidia-nforce-650i-sli-vs-680i-sli/

Current gen video cards (yes, all the way up to the 8800 cards) do not take advantage of the extra PCI -e lanes.

However DS3/P5B/P5W still OC better ;)

I just think they rushed the developers of the chipset so it is buggy. random problems pop out of nowhere. just replace the rushed part of my statement with unreliable IMHO.

the board has SLi as an option... but it's also a good overclocker.. probably the best clocker for the money too.

I have the Biostar 965PT and it is great (especially for the money.) I don't need many features from my motherboard except a pretty good OC, and for 3 months I ran 24/7 400FSB (E'6400). I think I got a max of 440.. I couldn't figure out if it was the CPU or the motherboard though (my RAM ICs are Promos, but I hit around 1100 on a high divider, and high latencies.) For now, I just backed the FSB down to 266 (stock 2.13Ghz), considering the C2D's are already fast enough, and I have no real-world value for 3.2Ghz.

You should do distributed computing then johndapunk ;) My biggest suggestion for your setup would be to wait 3 weeks and then purchase your E6600 for 2/3's the price. Otherwise a QuadGT or DS3 would be a nice investment with lower power consumption and better FSB clocking, sadly for memory clocking the 6xx would be better, especially with the unlinked dividers if you are using crappy ram. I own 2 C2D + P965 + D9GMX/GKX setups and both max out the chips before they get close to maxing out the mems. Just wait for the e6420 to launch and pick one of those up, unless you are jumping onto extreme watercooling or phase you'll wall your cooling before you wall a 9x multiplier.

Cliff Notes:
Wait till Price Drops
Buy E6420
Buy 965 mobo (QuadGT, DS3 both been good to me, 500FSB+ out of box)
Try and get D9GMH or find highclocking promos
Buy good cooling (TT120 for example)

It's complicated :P

I also never know for sure if my Scythe Ninja is ever on correctly, nonetheless tight. I wish I had the time and supplies to pressure mount it, I could probably see a 15C drop in temps... I could also use another thing of AS5 :P

Are you going to OC? If not just buy one of the least expensive Brand Name ones.

If you are going to OC can't beat the G,Skill HZ

If you don't mind rebate these are one of the best!
