Hi all, I really need some help.
Whenever I boot up my computer, everything starts up fine. The monitor turns on, all the LEDs on the case turn on, etc. I look at my monitor and when I press the power button the first thing I see is the screen with the intel logo along with the emachines logo, and also buttons to press for BIOS, but then after that screen I get nothing. I don't see screen with the Windows loading bar, I don't see my background with my icons, nothing. All I get after I see the emachines logo is a blank screen.
I left the computer on for 15 minutes and I still get the blank screen. Last night the computer was working fine with no problems at all. But today out of nowhere it just stopped working. The specs for the computer aren't special, just a 3 ghz (non-overclocked) P4, with no GPU, 512mb (single stick), and a Creative sound card.
I tired the monitor with a different computer and it worked fine, so the problem is with the emachines.
The computer and monitor turn on fine, but I don't see anything on the monitor after that one screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Take out the power from the monitor then plug back in. Might work.

try going into safe mode to see if its the drivers... because it sounds like a driver issue if your seeing the bios load screen but seeing nothing when it goes to windows

When the Emachines logo is displayed, start tapping F8 like a crazed maniac (no, I'm serious).
A menu full of options should appear, whether it does or not.. that's up to the rig :p:.
Once you're at that point (again, if you get that far), select Safe Mode, or, VGA Mode (? Can't remember exactly, but that defaults back to 640x480x16 Bit).
If this menu doesn't appear, your HDD may be toast or your XP installation may be borked.
Insert your XP CD, go through the first initial steps and when you are asked, enter the recovery console.
Once you get to a C: prompt, try fixmbr and fixboot. Once you've done both, type EXIT & press enter. Then press CTRL+ALT+DEL, and pray that your PC boots :)
EDIT: BTW, wth are you doing with an emachine?

I would suggest first, if you have a laptop or another PC I would get any data you need off of your hard drive imediately. If you need to BUY THIS DEVICE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002) to extract any data you want to keep to another computer before doing anything else. You may still have a chance to retrieve data before your hard drive is toast. If you keep trying to boot the computer you may do more damage to hard drive if that is your problem.
DO NOT SELECT THE RECOVERY OPTION UNTIL YOU HAVE BACKED UP YOUR DATA!!!!! You may loose your data during the recovery process.
Although, If you can get into SAFEMODE you may be fine. Just get the correct drivers installed.

I tried tapping the F8 and it didn't work. I'm going to try again and see if it works.
EDIT- Tried tapping F8 like a maniac and a nothing happened. Any other way I can get into VGA mode?

Could it be the hard drive going bad? I got no warning, nothing. I hope tapping F8 and getting into VGA will be the solution :(

That is what I was thinking. I might have to buy a PCI card with VGA outputs.
Thanks alot for the help. keep them coming!

So could the problems start from a driver? I'm not sure which one I am missing. I don't have anything on this PC, no GPU, just the process, RAM, HDD, and a sound card. Which driver could cause this problem?
