vista hibernation

the motherboard is an Asus m2v-mx micro atx and running on vista. My problem is when vista goes on hibernation it shuts down the hard drive and when i try to get it out of hibernation the hard drive doesn't even turn back on. I restart the computer and go into bios my hard drive isn't even there. I just have to wait a and try to turn it on and off until i see the hard drive again. Would the problem be the motherboard or vista?

Most likely Vista. Try shutting off the hibernation function. And also be sure the setting to disable/shut off hard drives is set to OFF.
