05/06 are not real world apps

true drivers might be optimized for other things and also this is a DX10 part

@Perkam
Stop making such a fuss about a card that isnt even released.
i know this is XS and all and im not trying to make the card look better but the card aint even released and alot can improve with drivers.
Further the prices in the pics will be the starting prices, usually new cards drop below MSRP within a week or 2 after launch.

So to be short its far to early to go and cry: ooooooooo Nvidia pulled a Geforce FX on us.

So all new games are based on Doom 3 engine (prey) and use dx7/8 like 3Dmark03

3DM06 and need for speed tell us much more about future performance:D

perkam likes to create action.Well i like it to be known when I'm SERIOUSLY disappointed...though yes Kunaak's right, official reviews will tell us the real picture.

But one thing i'll make clear, you'll never find me bashing the 8600GT, just disappointed at its performance...seeing as it was going to be my next upgrade.

Dont you meen "nVidias pulls a ATI X1600 on the 8600 series"?
:D

Any way. The performence for the 8600GT is exactly where i thought it whould be. Between 7900GS and 7900GT/GTO. So im not disappointed at all.
Gess its dependss on how high expectation you have.
Im thinking of a GT or GTS but the 128bit scares me of. :(

Let's wait and see how it will perform in the end,you make too much fuss for a card that hasn't been launched yet, I want that card too but if it will suck I will come up with 50$ more and buy a 8800GTS 320 that's all, let's hope ATi will bring something that will perform better at ~200$ price tag.
And really 8600GTS is much better in 06/Stalker/NFS Carbon and that's what I am interested in not OpenGL games or 3DMARK 03 but let's hope they will fix that too with a new driver and let's not forget it has DX10.

theres definatly alot of room for improvement in actual gaming if this card really isnt better then the 7600 GT.

but like I said, I will wait for the more indepth and reliable reviews to come out, like from anandtech.
all these "previews" arent really that helpful yet, as they are far too general to actually be useful so far.

Do you really think nvidia would do something silly like release a part on par with previous gen?

this is preview seems pretty in depth:

sure why not?

anyone remember when Intel went from 478 to 775?
that was a disaster if there ever was one.

and how about DDR2 for the first 2 years?
nearly useless upgrade.

just cause its newer, doesnt always mean its better.
this could be as minor an upgrade as making a DX10 core, on a 7600 GT...

not saying it is, just saying, its not looking like any real improvement so far, other then clock speeds and 3dmark.
I wont make any judgements on it however, till I see a real review.
not these reviews that break NDA and try to get out the earliest preview possible.

anandtech, hard OCP, Xbit, firingsquad... anywhere that will do a full review, games and all... thats what I want to see.

You're a spaz. you can be disappointed all you want and be as confused as any human can ever be, but you're not going to change the architecture or anything of the 8600GT. I'm disappointed to, but I got over it and I'm going to wait for the 8800GTS to drop a couple of dollars and pick that up instead of b.i.t.c.hing about the performance hinderances. You should have seen it from the 128-bit anyway... that one feature swayed me toward the 88GTS. If you don't have the money, go find some. Otherwise, go 7900GS and please shut your mouth about this, I don't want to hear it :)

memory bandwidth limited:(

too slow in the NWN2:(

that is a extremely overclcked 8600GTS @ 745/2290:slapass:

8600GTS 128bit 1000MHz = 6800GT 256bit 500MHz

an increase in the interface does note result in an equal increase in real world bandwidth...

also, that 1GHz RAM is still at lower latency.

This card gets ripped by the x1950pro... This better be around the $130-$150 price point.

I have a 7600gt and it isn't all that great. If I bought a new dx10 card and it performed equally with a card I paid $110 for 6 months ago I'd be pretty mad. If they just got over the 128bit bus thing this card would perform great, but they don't wan't people to OC them to 8800 performance. Stupid performance gaps...

Since when did XtremeSystem and the Xtreme 3D section become a gaming forum? People come here because they bench 3D, there are plenty of places that cater to gamers.... besides, how can you keep enough ln2 in the pot to play a game for any length of time ;)

It scares me when people talk about games as "real world"..... it's a GAME, it's no more real than a 3D benchmark

got to disagree with you there.videocards, particularly midrange ones are meant to play games more than just bench all day.so games are definitaly more "real world."
