Looks like a great card to overclock for not mega bucks. All this use of conductive pens nowadays, wish I had not thrown mine away when my last Athlon was retired :)

Excellent info on modding these cards, other mid range nvidia 8600GT / 8500GT might be similar you would have to think ?

The card overclocks like crazy. 800mhz with stock volts, but the scores are nothing impressive compared to 8800GTS 320Mb pics. It depends on the price that card will be.

What is also interesting is how the 8600GT without the external power adapter will oc.

And the final specs of the other cards would be interesting.
The 8500GT doesnt seem to support SLi...

So are we thinking this is going to be the new card for budget benching, or are we going with 8300's this time?

The 8500GT doesnt seem to support SLi...

That's what they said about the 6600 as well and then what happened was that not only did 6600 start getting 2ns GDDR3 but they also got SLi support as well so in effect they were 6600GT by any other name.

I think rumoured 8300/8400 will not have Sli but all others will, especially if AMD R6xx midrange had a lot of poke.

I am going 8300 ;)

THe 8600 wont be bad, but too expensive for my liking.

We have to wait for final specs and prices.

I have seen a 8500GT at Cebit and it didnt have a SLI port, so I dont think it supports SLi...
Its a budget office card. No idea why they named it 8500GT. It should have been 8200 or something.
