I want to build a solid AM2 system while I wait for Barcelona or Penryn at minimal cost. I will be using a X2 3600+ Brisbane and an 8600GTS in the meantime and I am down to the mobo. I need recommendations on a stable mobo that is good for OCing. I especially want one that is good at OCing mem, since I have had absolutely a horrible time doing so with my DS3. Keep in mind, I'm looking for something economical & I don't need SLI/CF.
Right now, I'm considering the Biostar Tforce 550 & the ASUS M2N-E 570 Ultra. Anyone have any good experiences with these boards? I'm looking for the board that is most stable and good at OCing, especially DDR2. Of course, I'm open to all other mobos in a similar price range.
Thanks, and I eagerly await Perkam's help.;)

Abit NF-M2 nView usually around $90 but supplies are drying up quick, not available at NewEgg anymore. Supposed to be the best for overclocking at a reasonable price. Also it's mATX. If you want SLI check out the 570 SLI boards, they are usually $110-130. If you want Crossfire check out 580X boards but they are $120-160. The DFI Perkam mentioned is popular too but I think you have to mod it to run SLI.

SLI version of which board? 570 SLI vs. 570 Ultra?
The Gigabyte 570 SLI board I'm buying has more customer satisfaction (72% gave 5 stars out of 65) than the the DFI board you mentioned (60% gave 5 stars out of 63) on NewEgg. So I don't see the 570 SLI being particularly unstable.
I just mentioned the 570 SLI because they are fairly cheap, the one I'm getting is $114+$6.41 shipping.

The only bad Chipsets I've seen for AMD are SiS

What's the trick to get into any oc options? I only see 4 memory settings and that is all. No voltage or HTT. I sure hope you know something I don't know.

The trick is to get the feel for the board, just like you would get the feel for a woman. Find out what it likes and what makes it flake out on you. learn when to push it to the wall and when to take it gently...

Don't talk foolish. :slap:
I bought this mb because you said it would oc to 3.0 +- with a 3600. With no oc'ing options how can it??? This board has the least oc options of any mb I have ever owned. If there are some hidden oc options, please tell me how to get to them. If there is only the 4 memory timings and that is all, I wasted my time and money. You said 3.1 on this mb for you, tell me something besides garbage.
I'm sure it a stable mb with no options to oc but, that is no what I wanted.

I cannot believe anyone would recommend a mb for clocking that had no oc options. Using clockgen to see if you can get a higher oc once you can not boot into windows is one thing . Using clockgen for the only option is another.
Thanks for putting out bad info. You should have said in all the posts that you recommended this mb that there are no voltage or any options but I used clockgen to get my clock. Unreal.......:slash:
Clockgen does not work anyways. What PLL did you use? NN I would like to see some ss with clockgen at 3.1GHz but I don't think that will happen and you will not reply.:stick:

I don't think you can do it without mods. Going from 1900 to 3100 with no options is a really a superman size job.

Are you going to give me the PLL you used for clockgen so I can oc my mb like you did or were you just blowing smoke?:stick:
