e6300 conroe ~ $180
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 ~ $120
Mushkin 2GB XP2-6400 4-4-3-10 kit ~ free

CPU and NB will be under water.

So, about $300 and then splurge for the $266 quadcore in Q3`07
Was also thinking buying XP Pro, I currently have XP Home. I don't really care about Vista.

stick with xp home, and that rig sounds good

what about psu? gfx?

id recommend corsair 520/620watt.. and a 7900gs (until the next gen gfx cards come out)

I actually have an eVGA 7900GS under water, and I just bought the Enermax Infiniti 650w - quiet, modular, and 8pin pci-e, love it. Corsair refused to release a 620w version w/8pin pci-e, so i said screw that.

I thought xp home had problems with multi-core cpus?
