Ok so long story short, went to bed last night and woke up with sound not working. Restarted computer, and then everytime a sound would play(like an IM or ending a process) my mobo would beep. So i went an updated the drivers for my Realtek AC'97 (onboard obviously). Restarted after drivers installed, still didn't work. So I also see this error in device manager : http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/1769/wierdpm0.jpg
I then read on some forum post through google that if I uninstalled that under the drivers tab it should fix it. Ok did that, restarted, still didn't work. So i then went into services.msc looked down to the 'Windows Audio' thing, and it was set to automatic just as it was before when I checked when the problem first occurred. However I didn't notice whether it was "Started" the first time I looked, but this time it wasn't. So i right clicked and did Start and sound works now. Well kinda. Basically works for things like winamp, vlc, aim. But like mirc, when I hit enter in the message bar and just hold it down(usually it triggers a beep.wav file or something) but instead I here my motherboard beep, and with task manager when it prompts me when i want to end a task instead of playing the normal sound, my motherboard beeps.
Alright so obviously something is out of wack here. Im not sure whether I wanna uninstall the Realtek ac'97 under the driver tab and completely remove it and then try and re-add/install it. I'm just looking for some insight here hopefully someone responds soon. Not to mention when i go to windowsupdate.com and its "Checking for the latest updates for your computer..." my svchost.exe under user SYSTEM takes 99% cpu usage which I think is blaster worm but when I did the fix put out by symantec it didnt find it  so obviously ive got a few issues here, and any help is greatly appreciated
