Ok guys I posted a similiar thread a couple of weeks ago but some components changed since then so here goes again:
-E6600 (after price cuts)
-DFI Infinity P965 (if retail board reviews are good)
-8800GTS 640MB
-Corsair 520W
-2GB Crucial Ballistix PC5300
-2x Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 320GB
-Lian-Li V-1000
The GPU + CPU will be under water
So anything suck, or likely to blow up :nono: ?

Cpu: Good
Mb: Don't know much about that DFI board. I would just stick with the Intel Bad Axe 2.
Videocard: 320MB would be cheaper and difference in performance isn't that big.
Ram: Good. 800MHz would be better with the E6600 if you overclock.
Case: Good
Psu: Good. If you're going to upgrade the cpu and videocard in future to quad core and G80 or R600 a Silverstone ST85ZF or the cheaper Silverstone OP 650w would be a good choice's.
Hd's: Samsung T166 series hd's are faster, cooler and quieter.

Looks pretty solid to me. I personally would go for some pc2 6400 RAM, with it being so cheap atm (You can get decent stuff for around $150!!).

Like Nazu said, maybe a slightly larger PSU would be a good choice. I'm not sure how much more expensive the 620w corsair is.

I don't know much about that mobo so I'll let someone more knowledgeable comment on it.

Depending on the resolution of your monitor you could probably go for the 320mb gts. If you are at 1920x1200 or over you will definitely want to stick with what you picked however.

Thanks guys, the infinity isn't out yet but it should be the best P965 board bar none. PSU - Do I really need more? it's pretty effecient and it's got 42A on the 12v line. My monitor res is 1680x1050 and reviews suggest that in the comming months the 320MB of vram will begin to become insufficient. @Nazu Where did you read that the Samsung's are faster? I read on storagereview that overall the hitachi's are the best performing 7200RPM drives at the moment, samsungs are probably quiter/cooler though.

I'm not completety sure that is the T166 faster than the Hitachi but the fact that it's cooler and quieter is enough for me to pick the Samsung. Probably the differences in performance are so small that you won't even notice them in normal use.

If you must get the Corsair, pls get the 620.

Why? A 520w will power that with its hands tied behind its back (does it have hands?) :p:

My Dad's got an..

E6300 @ 3.0GHz, 1.33v w/TTBT & Silverstone Fan
2x1GB Ballistix Tracer PC8000
XFX 8800GTS @ 650/950 w/Thermalright HR-03 Plus & Silverstone Fan
ASUS P5B Deluxe WiFi/AP
X-Fi XtremeMusic
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
2x Lite On 20x Litescribe Burners
..& tons of fans.

His rig doesn't even pull 400w from the wall with the Corsair HX520 playing games w/orthos running in the background. (Small FFT).

Tiger direct has the DDR2 800 Crucial Ballistix 1gb kits for 115 after rebate. that *2 = 230 dollars for 2gb of Ballistix DDR2 800. Not too bad =). that or maybe go G.Skill DDR2 800HZ.

heres what I would change, just my preference:

-E6600 ( I agree, maybe even E6400 to allocate $ better)
-DFI Infinity P965 (I would probably get an Asus commando or Abit quad GT)
-8800GTS 640MB (sounds good, would wait for price drop, post r600)
-Corsair 520W ( ocz 700w $105 shipped WAY better, MUCH better customer service: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002 )
-2GB Crucial Ballistix PC5300 ( much better choice, only $139.99 shipped > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220144 )
-2x Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 320GB (sounds good)
-Lian-Li V-1000 (this is too personal to make a recommendation)
The GPU + CPU will be under water (:toast: )

I don't know that I would get the OCZ over the Corsair. I do however agree with Perkam that you should think about going to the 620watt Corsair. Right now it will be overkill for your system, but it will be nice down the road to have that headroom.

I am not saying don't get the V1000, I love that case. But I am interested in how you are going to do CPU/GPU water cooling in that case. External, mod the top or bottom, the case is great but can be a little tight for water. I have mostly stopped making case recommendation though since it is a very personal decision...that and all I ever say is Lian Li or SilverStone.

It will no doubt be very tight but I should be able to fit a PA120.2 in the base HDD/PSU compartment with some cutting/drilling, everything else is quite small so pump placement shouldn't be too hard either.

I think I'm gonna go with the 700W OCZ Gamexstream it's not much more $$ and jonny gave it a good review, only problem was the slightly out of spec ripple but that shouldn't make much real-world difference.

If the GXS 700 and HX620 are within a few bucks of each other, I'd pick the Corsair any day. Quiet, modular, efficient, more than enough power.

Stick with D.F.I they are the best boards I have owned and built with after 10 D.F.I builds and not so much as a hiccup stutter or complaint about any of them even myself included I only buy D.F.I these days and ASUS I don't like ASUS at all but thats me.
