I believe i got a hold of an older revision of crucial ballistix tracer ddr2 667.

part number BL12864AL664.16FD

they are rated 4-4-4-10 at 1.9v

the Current model is BL12864AL663.16FD

rated at 3-3-3-8 at 2.2v.

I was wondering if the cas4 would perform the same as the cas 3, and i would rather ask then just test them out since they are brand new in the package and i would rather just get rid of them and pick up a different set of d9 memory if these aren't going to be as good at overclocking as others.

Do the led's on the tracer modules hinder overclocking at all vs the ballistix without led's? I would assume they would since the led's have to get power from somewhere, so less power would be going to the actual memory.

just trying to get some info before deciding to use the tracer cas4 that I just got.

thanks

First set might be D9GKX...either way, they should work fine together, as they will still be the same IC, rev.D9.

LED's do not seem to hamper overclocking for me @ all...although the Tracer models end up a bit hotter if you do not use a fan over them.

I believe they are double sided fat body D9. They aren't going to overclock as well as the newer ballistix.

no, it's still .16FD.. which means revD die, the 'fat bodies' are revA.

cadaveca, revD9? ALL micron's (non-ES) fbga chips are labeled with "D9xxx", even if it's mobile SDRAM. ;)

LoL...extra comma. same rev of D9 IC...sound better?:stick:

yeah, i suppose i misread it. just one of my peeves, when people refer to one of the B6-* chips as "D9" or one of the BT-* chips as "fatbody", but everyone does it, so everyone knows what they are talking about.. however, there are some fatbody and some other D9 ddr2 chips that suck ass, but it's still the magical "D9" that everyone talks about..

I just got done testing the crucial ballistix cas4, and they sucked royally. Not stable above 800 at all, comp kept crashing, so i swapped back to the "micron technology" d9gct's that i had in there before (only 2 x 512 though), and now i am running at 1044 on the memory and comp is stable.

weird thing was that the ballistix ran fine under memtest at 1000 but for some reason actually getting that to work with 500 fsb wouldn't do.

worked at 1000 when i had 400 fsb but memory multiplier at 2.5x

i think i need to send these modules back to crucial and tell them they were unstable in my system.
