i am not in the memory section very often but i just got a new kit of gskill 6400 HZ's (2x1gb) and its actually showing EPP SLI enabled memory.
it doesnt show anything on the ram or in the documentation but when you put them on the Asus P5N-E SLI the sli enabled memory is now enabled.
have i been in the closet or is this new for this model of gskill ?

the options the board gives are 1%-5% CPU OC. CPU OC MAX and Expert.
now i dont understand how it works since if you enable any of then aside from expert it disables all cpu and ram overclocking. and the ram runs at 800mhz and cpu runs at stock.
i really dont have any interest in using the EPP, but it would be nice to see what the EPP Profile for MAX OC is.

anyone know how to make this work ? and if this is new for this ram?
date on the ram is 0711 i believe. which means its still warm in the middle form the factory. (week 11 is the week of March 11-17)

It is possible that G.Skill upgrade there Memory to EPP because there are many Problems with >800 RAM on Nvidia Chipsets.

The Mem would be set to the SPD-ROM Value but the Board don't increase the Voltage and 800 4-4-4 don't works with 1,8 V.

SLI Ready or EPP saves Voltage information in the SPD-ROM, and so the problems are away.

800 4-4-4 don't works with 1,8 V

well the ram isnt spec'd for 1.8v so ... but maybe you were just citing an example ?

im more curious what CPUOC MAX is.. but as i mentioned switching to that disables all overclocking except for the auto overclock feature of the motherboard. which is something like 5% oc ? i cant recall i only played with it for a little bit.

i read one review of, corsair or some other ram with EPP and when they put it to max it jacked the ram to 1200mhz.
so im curious if the EPP is broken on the board or if its enabled int he RAM only to allow it to boot at low voltages on those boards that boot at low volts by default.

My HZ 6400 are also EPP. They do 550 MHz 4-4-4-8 and 600 MHz 5-5-5-15 2,45v on Asus P5B Del :cool:

If you can post a screenshot of the SPD using SPDtool (the hexdump) I can tell you exactly what the EPP says.

I fu&*up my HZs SPD....:mad:

Can you back up your HZs SPD with SPDtool, and send-me???
I only find the non-EPP SPD on the web...and my HZs is the new one with EPP.

Sorry for my bad English :(

Here is the link to the program

File->Read-> (choose one of them)
Then,
File->Save

Thank you!

PS: Here is the link to Vic's database. No EPP HZ's :(

i been running both my kits at 950 4-3-3-9 lately simply because there isnt much of a difference from that, to the other setting i use which is 5-4-4-9 @ 1150mhz. 1 kit non EPP the new kit is EPP. both run nearly identicle clocks.

and if i can run 4-3-3-9 at slightly lower volts,, then i will run the lower volts over only a small increase, if any in bandwidth.

i still have never messed with all the other timings simply becuase i just dont understand what they do for DDR2.

i have never been able to run 4-4-4 on this ram but i havent jacked it up to 2.4v either...
