What Version are you running right now? There is a 1.0001 patch the might help: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=138589
However if you are running Vista, you are unfortunately out of luck because the game is having a hell of a time running stable in it. You will have to wait for the 2nd patch.

Yea, however you also have an 8800. There are known issues, and in fact nvidia is creating drivers for that issue: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=138742

This 1.0000001 thing is a joke right ? Is the patch really called 1.001 ?
It would be funny though, if the programmers would've named this patch like that themselves :-)

If you change render from Full dynamic lightning to Static Lightning the game stops being buggy and you gain much more FPS.
I first tried 1680x1050@high quality full dynamic lightning, and had 20fps
Then i tried 1680x1050@high quality static lightning, and had close to 400fps.
This whas at the beginning of the game, when you're inside and talking to the fat dude with his laptop.
I used the X1900GT, but if you guys have problems with a 8800, then you also could try change the lightning.
