I got 2 7900gs off ebay and they were INSANE overclockers, I'm a total noob and without vmods or additional cooling, I got them to 800mhz. Sure its unbelievable ;) But they sorta screwed up... I'm going to sell one soon, pretty cheap, so look around ;)

is there a big difference between a 7600gt vs. a 7900gs?
from what i can see the pp is 12 vs. 20
but the 7600gt has higher clock speeds, would this out wiegh the higher pp?
my 6800gs i can unlock pp, can u do this with the 7900gs?
im upgrading from a 6800gs and need a card now while i wait for the prices to drop for the 8 series gpus.

7600GT can't catch up to a 7900GS. There is a reason why it costs a good deal more. Clocks? Just pump up the clocks on the 7900gs and you'll be very impressed. Not many people run things stock because they want to (here at least) and 7900GS clocks very well.

If you have an NV preference, go 7900GS.
If you have an ATI preference, go X1950pro.
Either way, you'll make an awesome choice for a budget card.

some of the bfg 7900gs's are GT cores and can be unlocked to 24pp, 8vp but most can't it's luck of the draw for $190
i think this

600/1600 mhz is very fast and it oc's well for 190 its worth it

Why not spend a few extra bucks and get the $209(189.99 after rebate) x1950xt on newegg? Decent jump in performance for 20(well for the same price after rebate) bucks.

B. It's already at his house - hence the picture.
C. THe X1950xtx is a whole $50 more expensive.

no its not the fan.
its a high pitch sqeek!Unfortunately, Nvidia's qc department is equivalent to ATI's R&D department...they both enjoy eating popeyes, sleeping and watching football 23 out of 24 hours in a day.
